Estonian historical areas

There are many exciting historical areas in Estonia.

View of the old part of Tallinn

Building of the city walls began in the 13th century and lasted for about 300 years. The city wall had the length of over 2.5 kilometers and had more than 70 towers.

A 48-meter tower "Tall Herman, with a medieval dungeon, was built at the end of XIV century in the southeastern part of the castle complex.

Peep into the Kitchen

Kiek in de Kk was the most powerful tower on the entire coast of the Baltic Sea. Its diameter is 17 m, height - 38 m and the thickness of the walls is 4m. The tower has 6 floors. From the upper floors of the tower not only the troops of the enemy were visible but the kitchens of the housewives. Hence the unusual name of the tower, which means: "Look into the kitchen.".

Maiden's Tower - a medieval prison tower for ladies of easy virtue. This tower was built in the second half of XIV century, simultaneously with the construction of the city walls.

Town Hall Square

Tallinn's Town Hall. Built in the 14th Century.

Town Hall square was used as the market and the fairground and served as the gathering place.
