Overview
Barcelona Airport - El Prat airport is located 10 km from Barcelona and is situated in El Prat de Llobregat. It is the second busiest airport in Spain, behind Madrid-Barajas. The MadridBarcelona route, known as "Puente Areo" was the world's busiest route until 2008. This airport serves as the base to airlines Vueling and Spanair and hub for Air Europa, Iberia, Ryanair and Air Nostrum. The Barcelona airport has three runways. Two parallel 07L/25R and 07R/25L, and a crossrunway, 02/20. The runway 25L is used only for takeoffs. The runway 25R is used for landings and sometimes for takeoffs. The runway 02 is used for landings of aircraft at night from the sea.
