WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. _ "The most picturesque time of year on a cranberry farm is during fall harvest with the seemingly endless sea of red floating cranberries," said Steve Bartling, a grower in Manitowish Waters.

Many people think cranberries grow in water, Bartling said. Not so. Berries form on perennial vines in thick mats on the ground and turn red only in the fall. That's when farmers flood the marshes
