Wild Beauty

John Downton was born in Sydney in 1939. He has spent much of his life in the country however, and his love of Australian landscapes shines through in much of his work.

His art education has been extensive. He has attended art classes at the Royal Art Society of New South Wales under the direction of Kenneth Green, Allan Hanson and Arthur Murch. He has also received private tuition from George Duncan and developed his plein air skills
