A Life of Bronze

Frank Miles was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe) in 1946; raised on a farm on the outskirts of Bulawayo and now resides in Alstonville, New South Wales.

Frank’s family was involved in dairy and crop farming, so he grew up with an inherent relationship and connection to all types of domestic animals - and also developed a deep love and admiration for wildlife. When he returned home from boarding school for the holidays, Frank would be out all day on his own, exploring the bushveld and witnessing the many nuances of nature. The Rhodesia of his time was teeming with wild animals which inspired many of his early bronze sculptures such as Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, all types of buck and not
