RAIN STOPPED PLAY

I’m not an experienced motorcycle tourist. I did a long weekend to Koblenz on the Rhine some years ago, taking in the Nurburgring – my wobbly lap there was the single most dangerous thing I have ever done! But now it was time to attempt another trip. My son now rides, and pa-in-law recently retired to a roomy farmhouse with an attached gite in the wilds of Normandy, a convenient 70 miles from Le Mans. So, as avid MotoGP fans, it seemed rude not to make a pilgrimage to the French MotoGP. With a week, we would have time for the Normandy D-Day sites as well.

Booking the tickets – circuit entry and Eurotunnel return – was easy, and choosing Le Shuttle over the ferry wasn't hard
