Helmet comms systems have developed hugely over the last few years – and even though they may not be everyone’s cup of tea, they are impressive units these days.

One such bit of kit is the Cardo Packtalk Bold. It lets you listen to the satnav instructions, music or radio on the go, and if you talk on the phone or with one of your co-riders, the entertainment is put on hold.

The system works very well. I have been mostly using it to play music from my phone, and to answer the odd phone call while on the road. The sound quality has been great in both cases (the speakers are by JBL, so it should be), although you need to make sure that the speakers are perfectly positioned against your ears otherwise the sound quickly fades away.
