As knitting yarns go, Bamboo is a relative newcomer but it is also a yarn that is becoming increasingly popular – and for good reason. For knitters it is an interesting natural fibre that wears well and can be considered the ‘friendly fibre’.
In history, bamboo has traditionally been used in the manufacture of paper which was invented in China centuries ago. During this time, bamboo was also used for many of the things that we now would normally use timber for – including houses, boxes, needles and in cooking utensils.
