With the EDC market in high gear, manufacturers are in a race to see who can out-cool the other. The slip-joint segment of the market is no exception. While the traditional end of the genre has always held its own, the manufacturers of neo-traditional slip joints have many fertile fields yet to be plowed—and they’re doing it.

I tested four of the latest fare in the growing neo-traditional segment. The four are so vastly different that I chose a task that would be appropriate for each rather than pitting them one against the other.
