More DSP-powered audio interfaces from the masters of analogue emulation
Universal Audio have added an all-new model to their Apollo X range of professional audio interfaces, and blessed the immensely popular Apollo Twin MkII (10/10, 242) with an upgrade. As well as serving as premium interfaces for recording and playback, both, of course, are able to run UA’s extensive library of classic hardware emulation plugins – the biggest draw for most potential users.
The Apollo x4 sits in between the singer-songwriter-friendly Apollo Twin MkII and the more studio-orientated rackmount Apollos, being an ‘extended’ desktop interface that looks very much like a stretched-out Twin MkII. You get four Unison combi mic/line inputs around the back – which physically reconfigure themselves to emulate an ever-increasing range of classic hardware preamps
