Pottering around my living room in Oxford, I almost jumped out of my skin when a male voice boomed out of nowhere.

‘I am Hori, priest to Amum,’ it said. ‘I lived at Thebes in the 18th Dynasty in the year 1500 BC. One of my titles is “Guardian to the Doors of the Sky to the Temple of Amum.”’ ‘Right,’ I murmured, not quite able to take in what was happening. But
