    Thank you, Jim, for a thoughtful and informative review of our latest amplifier, the Reference 160 S (Vol.43 No.2). We hope that everyone reads the entire review, because it provides great insight and context for a product that was truly 50 years in the making.

    You bring up the issue of truth versus beauty, a topic debated by music lovers everywhere. We believe truth—music—must be transparent and pure to allow native beauty to be revealed. If something is added, then it is not entirely truthful; it is a coloration. The 160 S allows one to hear the inherent beauty in the music, the emotion, and the rich tonal colors transparently, without exacerbating any anomalies in a recording. “[I]f the Reference 160 be truth beauty.
