For automotive use, carbon fibre was once the preserve of Formula One. Bringing benefits of its ultra low weight and massive strength, it’s a highly specialist material requiring specialist equipment to manipulate. And due to this, it wasn’t cheap.
This is still true of composite products which contain a large proportion of the wonder material, and we regularly feature cars with carbon fibre panels, wheel arches, seats and trim panels
