Hilo Trollers Labor Day Tournament Results

The Hilo Trollers safely and successfully completed their 2019 tournament season with the two-day Labor Day Tournament held on August 31 and September 1. Twenty boats ran each day, but a few boats ran on only one day or the other. The weather cooperated, and “marlin” was the name of the game. Nine marlin were hooked, and eight were brought to the scales. No ‘ahi were landed, but that’s fishing. Some nice-sized ono and mahimahi came up; a total of nine ono and three mahimahi were landed.

The largest marlin and largest fish overall was a. by Capt. Jimmy Hiraki and crew. The second largest fish overall was a 167.5-lb marlin landed on the by Capt. C.J. Lewis and crew. The largest ono was a 33.7-pounder landed on the . by Capt. Ryan Watanabe and crew. The largest mahimahi was a 27-lb fish landed on the by Capt. Nick Rodrigues and crew. The also took the Grand Champion Award for catching two marlin and a mahimahi weighing a total of 259.7 lbs.
