Michelle Willetts isn’t the CrossFit stereotype you might imagine. She’s an accountant and a petite 53-year-old mum of three grown kids. She does CrossFit in order to be fit, healthy and strong.
This year, CrossFit celebrates its 20th birthday. Like anything, the fitness programme has matured and changed with time, and is now appealing to a broader range of ages and abilities.
Michelle was 39 when she first gave fitness a “go”. She started with walking and progressed to running. After that she tried boot camp, until her trainer moved out of town, then someone suggested CrossFit. That was eight years ago and she still loves it.
