Loch Longs race in Galicia

Three years ago the Loch Long Class took its boats from Aldeburgh to Lake Como. Last year the indomitable fleet went to Galicia, on Spain’s rugged north coast. Thirteen boats set out for the ancient fishing port of Viveiro to race in a private regatta on the deep, sheltered waters of Ria Viveiro (a sea loch).

The logistics are not to be underestimated, and tour organiser James Powell (Iona) had the invaluable assistance of Bruce and (fluent Spanish speaker) Clare Johnson (Hussar), Jonathan Evans (Tantrum) and James Mehew (Akela) in the preliminary research for a venue.
