12 GO MAD IN MONGOLIA PART ONE

DAY 1

Well, not all adventures go to plan. Aeroflot delays leave us two minutes late to check in for the second leg to Mongolia. In Russia it's tough luck and were told to be grateful that there was space on a flight tomorrow - 22,500 Roubles for a tiny room is better than the floor, and we tuck into strange food, thankful for credit cards.

DAY 2

Not so exciting as planned originally. It's pouring with rain, which doesn't matter as we're trapped inside. Despite not being able to change for 48 hours, we all smell wonderful due to the many duty-free shops and free testers. Managed to sleep well and arranging to check in early! Don't want to miss our flight.

DAY3

Totally zombiefied. Have just arrived in Mongolia, no sleep for two days now and wearing motorcycle boots for three days is killing the feet. On arrival we tackle a Mongolian breakfast - lots of local dishes; not sure what's in them, but tasty and welcome. A short walk locally before a morning siesta. Ulaanbaatar is obviously growing very fast; masses of half-built tower blocks and many chimneys belching smoke. 'In September the weather is nice in Mongolia,' we had
