ROAD TRIP OF DOOM

LOVECRAFT COUNTRY

Stream* or watch EXPRESS from August 17, Mondays at 11am, ENCORE at 8.30pm on FOX SHOWCASE [115]

Actor Jonathan Majors admits it’s not easy to define Lovecraft Country, the new drama series he stars in that mixes horror, science-fiction and racial injustice.

“It’s a world that we haven’t seen before and the audience is not going to know where to look or where to turn, because it is beyond description,” he teases. “All I can say is it’s one hell of a ride!”

The 10-part HBO series is based on Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel of the same name, which was inspired by the pulp horror and science-fiction stories of HP Lovecraft from the 1920s and ’30s. But unlike the original tales set mostly in New England, Ruff set his supernatural saga in the racially charged Deep South of the 1950s.

“The sad thing about the history of our nation and Spike Lee’s latest film . “But given what’s going on in the world right now, it seems like a great time to watch our hero go on this adventure to bring down both monsters and white supremacy.”
