Outrigger Canoe Club’s Fishing Tournament

With the pandemic canceling plans for multiple events around the state, the Outrigger Canoe Club (OCC) wanted to find a way to make their annual fishing tournament happen in accordance with local restrictions. Initially, the 10th Annual Outrigger Canoe Club Fishing Tournament was scheduled to run back in May, but was postponed. Organizers were inspired by Palafamala’s Virtual Fishing Tournament, and the OCC agreed to let the event go virtual in late August. That decision led to a huge success.

As the tournament director, I wanted the focus to be on getting more keiki involved. The tournament committee, we were able to turn this dream into a reality.
