Otter record-holder TONI MCCANN knows a thing or two about descending. This young ASICS athlete has some sound advice for your next downhill.

The one thing I learned racing post-injury, where my preparation included many hours on a Wattbike in a gym, is that running downhill requires training. Strong legs, core and (yes) upper body are all a part of bring a great downhill runner. The Wattbike, needless to say, did not prepare me well and I ended up with the worst case of jelly legs and quads that fought with me for a week post-race. It was so bad I couldn’t sit down without help.
