When twelve-year-old detective Steve Brixton gets a call that the Fairview diamond has gone missing, there are only two things to do: grab his new business cards and take the case!
But Steve quickly learns there's an even bigger mystery afoot.
MacArthur Bart, a.k.a. Steve's hero, a.k.a. the author of the Bailey Brothers Mysteries series, has been kidnapped! With the man who taught him everything he knows about sleuthing in trouble, Steve and his best chum, Dana, know they must stage a daring rescue . . .
Once they find out where Bart is . . . and who took him . . . and why.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/512 yr old Steve is investigating a diamond heist but the case suddenly changes when McArthur Bart, author of the Bailey Brothers detective novels writes Steve a letter saying he fears for his life. #2 in series, #1 is Case of the Case of Mistaken Identity. Humorous send-up to the Hardy Boys, a quick read with lots of action, detective tips, short chapters.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Cute enough, but I'm not sure how appealing it is to the target audience. Apparently not overwhelmingly so, as it seems the 'series' consists of only two books....
