Eugene Gendlin is a professor of psychology at the University of Chicago. For many years he was the editor of Psycho-therapy: Theory, Research, and Practice. In 1970, because of his development of experiential psychology, he was chosen by the Psychotherapy Division of the American Psychological Association for their first Distinguished Professional Psychologist of the Year award.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5If you are interested in a quick method to work with the mind/body interface and want something that is well researched, this book is it. I use it in a class for massage therapists on just how the body can access and give further insights into psychological blocks. The book is probably ghost written since the author has a very formal and academic style in his other works.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It’s so empowering to be able to conduct one’s own therapy by connecting with feelings and emotions held within our own body. I was able to uncover important changes I needed to make to heal emotionally just after listening one time. I plan to go back and use this over and over to resolve the things I didn’t realize about still need to work through in order to be happy and healthy. Great program!

1) It is an invitation to use a technique to be kind and friendly with ourselves
2) It is read by Eugene Gendlin, the author and founder of this technique. He is kind and generous, the grandpa you always wanted.
3) In my experience at least, the technique works. Slowing down and opening a dialog with myself, based upon what my body is telling me is incredibly grounding and peace-producing.
4) The practice portions are very brief - Dr. Gendlin gives an instruction, suggests that the listener pause the audiobook at spend time with it; you return for the next instruction. A great way to learn!
I think this is the kind of instruction that could change the world, one person at a time.
