- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Stone Barrington is lured from Elaine's to New England, and the genteel but cut-throat world of priceless antiques, historic homes, and lavish country estates. In a place dominated by bluebloods and their inherited wealth, along with the nouveau riche, there are surprisingly few rules of engagement, and Stone finds himself navigating a dangerous course, one where even the most expensive and sought-after status symbols are sometimes stolen and sokmetimes clever fakes, though no less priceless.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Love Stone and the adventures he finds himself in. Very enjoyable!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Beach book. This was a quick read, but just sort of rambled all over the place. The ending tied some things up and probably overall saved the book, but I honestly don't think I could recommend this to anyone.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Why do I keep reading this drivel? This time, our hero is trying to solve a counterfeit antique furniture case. Who knew there is such a market? Or, that someone would be murdered over it. He beds one or two women, who happen to live after the experience (not all do). The characters are familiar, this is book #15--they ought to be. The plot is intriguing, characters just engaging enough to keep my interest-where's book #16?
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Although I normally get excited with Stone Barrington's escapades this one, which takes place in New England just didn't do it for me. He should stay in NYC.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Hot Mahogany. Stuart Woods.2008. This is the third or fourth Stone Barrington novel I have read. Jim considers them “beach books”—easy reads with just enough plot to keep you interested to the end. I always think of Stone Barrington as looking like George Peppard. He is an adventurer, an ex-cop and lawyer who has ties to the CIA, and always several attractive women interests. It isn’t necessary to read these books in order
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Interesting Stone Barrington novel with Stone involved in a fraudulent antique desk. During the search for the missing desk Stone travelled to Newport and Bristol, RI. Only disappointing angle is the 3 or 4 women who can't resist Stone. It's old and tired and it's time Stone had a committed relationship.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A typical Stuart Woods - a book that's hard to put down and truly very enjoyable. This is a must read for any Stuart Woods fan. Stone Barrington always delights and always seems to know just what to do to get the job done - no matter what the job may be!
