- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Isle of Masks by Ulysses Moore is the fourth book in the Door to Time Saga. This was an engaging book that quickly sucked me into the story and had me reading it in one sitting. The story gives the reader enough information about the previous books in the saga that the reader can understand what has happened previously so that the story makes sense, while at the same time not giving away the previous books so that you want to go out and read them too. In the Isle of Masks, Jason, Rick and Julia plan, and do, travel back in time to eighteenth century Venice in order to find an inventor, Peter Dedalus, in order to discover a dangerous secret about the Doors of Time. These doors allow the children and others to travel to different places in time. The story is fast paced and well written. It quickly engages the reader and keeps them sitting on the edge of their seat, wanting to know what will happen next. The story ends with a cliff-hanger, the bad guys having escaped death in a fire, leaving the reader eagerly anticipating the next instalment in the saga.
