      It's been a while since I've read a Stuart Woods novel, but I picked up a couple at the Friends of the Library sale because I very much enjoyed the previous novels of his.Stone Barrington is once again up to his eyeballs in big money and the movie industry. He flies to California to act as a proxy for Arrington, a former, now very rich, girlfriend. The story begins with an unexpected murder and takes a number of twists as Stone figures out how to manipulate all the relevant players to do right by his client.Excellent character development and good story arc, but I felt the ending was a bit lame. He did tie up most loose ends, but I think Woods could have done better.All-in-all, a fun, easy read.

      One of the better Barrington books. Stone weaves a clever plot to enable Arrington (his former lover and mother of his child) to retain control of a Hollywood studio owned by her former husband. Twisty enough for you? Stone and Dino are not in NYC, a delightful change and the amounts of money thrown around are phenomenal. Stone gets laid several times, as usual, but one of them doesn't get killed...that's odd for a Barrington novel. Dino's role helps bring the protagonist to justice after many bad acts. The plot involves Ed Eagle, a Santa Fe lawyer and his edgy ex-, bringing together a couple of Woods' plot strings. This one is #20 in the series and is better than most.

      As always a good read, not like most of the books I read now a days but I enjoy reading about Stone and everyone. They seem like relatives after all these books I have read.

      Not bad, one of the better Barrington books. Woods actually weaves a fairly clever plot of stock takeovers, murder, romance, etc., in with some of his better written characters for a good summer read. It helps if you have read all the Barrington novels leading up to this one.

      Synopsis: Following closely on the story in ‘Strategic Moves’, Stone Barrington and Dino are in Bel-Air at the behest of one of Stone’s former lovers. Stone’s job is to vote a block of stock to keep Centurion Studios from falling into the hands of a hotel developer. Many of Woods’s characters make an appearance in the story, including Ed Eagle’s former wife, the murderous Barbara Eagle.Review: This story has several nice plot twists with a rather surprising ending. There are, however, lots of business legalities that seem unnecessary to the tale.

      This is the best Stone Barrington book is quite a while. I was expecting another boilerplate plot with the same old scenes and characters. Somehow the Hollywood setting has brought new life to the old character. The audiobook narrator, Tony Roberts, is a master with character voices.

      This Stone Barrington novel is superb, as is the plot, pacing, and characters. Most enjoyable is Woods’ crisp frequently humorous language. Both good and bad persons from previous Woods novels appear, which is delightful for those who read about them previously, but even people who meet them here for the first time, will enjoy the experience.Stone decides to help his now very rich ex-girl friend who wants to keep a movie company intake. Her now deceased husband owned a large share in the business. There are about two dozen share holders. A vicious wealthy crook wants to buy all the shares, destroy the film company and build a hotel. He even kills people who do not sell him their shares.

      GREAT!!!! I read it in a day. I couldn't put it down. One of Woods best Stone Barrington books.
