Some of Spurgeon's most powerful sermons were those he preached on Heaven. Up until now, however, very few of these sermons have been available to a modern audience. - (5/5)My husband and I have been so very blessed each morning as we listened to these amazing excerpts from Charles Spurgeon's sermons on God's promises for our Eternity with Him. Randy Alcorn reads from the sermons so well that we had a sense of actually being present in the congregation of that time. His own comments following each sermon excerpt helped to strengthen our understanding of God's promises for our Eternal life with Him.
- (5/5)A beautiful reminder of what's ahead. Also some answers to questions people might ask about heaven.
- (5/5)Incredible book to point me towards Jesus and Heaven. A book to treasure.
- (5/5)Having just read a new inspiring book titled “We Shall See God” which brings together two great theological minds whose doctrine on heaven is so based on God’s truth revealed through the text of scripture.First we have Charles Spurgeon the “Prince of Preachers” who has more material in print than any other Christian author in history. Then we have Randy Alcorn the best-selling author of Heaven who joins Spurgeon creating a dynamic duo to bring a theological devotional journey filled with fifty hope-giving sermons of the great Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon. Alcorn is the founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries whose goal its to teach the principles of God’s Word, emphasizing an eternal viewpoint. In the introduction Alcorn gives us a little history of Charles Spurgeon to understand this pastor’s influence on evangelicalism within the ecclesiastical history of the protestant church. Now the book is designed to be used as a fifty-day devotional reading based on selective excerpts from fifty of Spurgeon’s selected sermons that deal with the beauty of Heaven along with the depravity of Hell. Randy Alcorn provides insightful commentary on each excerpt from Spurgeon. What I enjoyed is that Alcorn did not just repeat or parrot what Spurgeon just said but instead briefly explains and sheds light on the message. I also found helpful how each devotional entry included the when, where, and date the sermon was preached. This is one highly inspirational devotional that I would recommend whether you’re are familiar with Spurgeon or not as a tool to assist in not being so earthly minded but find joy in the pleasure of heaven that await the follower of Christ.Disclaimer: This book was provided for an honest review by Tyndale House Publishers.
