About this audiobook

Investing means different things to different people… and there is a huge difference between passive investing and becoming an active, engaged investor. Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing, one of the three core titles in the Rich Dad Series, covers the basic rules of investing, how to reduce your investment risk, how to convert your earned income into passive income… plus Rich Dad’s 10 Investor Controls.

The Rich Dad philosophy makes a key distinction between managing your money and growing it… and understanding key principles of investing is the first step toward creating and growing wealth. This book delivers guidance, not guarantees, to help anyone begin the process of becoming an active investor on the road to financial freedom.

I read the previous two books Rich Dad Poor Dad and Cashflow Quadrant before this one. I’m not sure I learned much more in this book since a lot of the content was just repeated from the previous books. Good stories and lots of interesting theoretical advice, but I don’t think enough information was provided to enable me to implement the things that Robert has done to get rich myself.

I challenge his statement that you don’t need money to make money. You absolutely do. It’s more correct to say you don’t need YOUR OWN money but you do need money. How do you buy a positive cashflow investment without any money - you have to borrow it. And how do you borrow money when you are first starting out? From a bank? Banks don’t lend without some kind of collateral, deposit and a demonstrated ability to repay the loan. So that means you need to have some money in the bank or equity on an existing property and a regular income stream. But Robert says that you shouldn’t be an employee, you should be your own boss. But it is not easy to create a successful business. Most people can’t do it and even if they do that takes time. So how can he say that you can make money with no money? That’s simply not true.

In a nutshell, I think all three books tell an interesting story about his life and his two dads and their world theories but none of it really amounts to any concrete advice or action plan. I’m still glad I read these books to say I’ve read them.

Really engaging book. The emphasis on challenging current dogma, the ‘old’ ways of thinking, along with the manner in which the experience is imparted as a journey of learning, being mentored, building fundamentals of financial knowledge and taking the leap to literally ‘minding your own business’ is a great formula to stimulate interest and promote the thought process. This book is about what to consider, how to approach investing to become super rich and keep it. Not what to do. The conceptualisation and repeated emphasis on important topics supported the structure of the book very well and links the chapters neatly; perseverance and endurance with planning and goal setting are clearly markers for success - there are many - keep learning.

Very interesting book. The only reason I rated it 4*, is because not everything applies outside US. However, is a very appealing guide for investing. I listened to it and now want to buy a paperback version. It helps a lot to understand the rules of investing and is in your hands to identify those rules in your country. Highly recommended as it broadens your point of view
