The son of a powerful couple seeking societal reform, John becomes a lawyer, eager to seek justice for the oppressed, and gladly accepts his company's terms, agreeing to fight against all religion, especially Christianity. Beverly tragically loses her mother when only a child, and her father dies not long after. Viewing her mother's grief at her father's infidelities as weakness, Beverly vows to remain strong and protect herself. Her sisters settle down early and seem content with their small-town husbands. Initially disdaining their narrow-minded religion and early motherhood, Beverly begins to wonder what they possess that makes them happy though she has all that wealth can provide and still lacks joy.
    Basically raised in a bar, William finds nothing unusual in his parents drunkenness and soon becomes a successful salesman, attaining his father's dismissive attitude toward women. His business practices become ever more self-seeking and manipulative. The son of devout Christians, Jose joins the ministry, but his message is soon distorted as he follows the guidance of a man preaching the goodness of humanity and their inner divinity. The daughter of loving Christian parents, Sarah values their love, but as she grows she rebels against their strict rules, embracing the culture of drugs and free love. When she receives even more damaging counsel, Sarah enters the grasp of a controlling, fanatical leader. The Great White Throne Judgment insightfully portrays the decisions that guide each life and the ultimate consequences as each battles with the Holy Spirit.
