About this audiobook

Four of the seven Trustees have been defeated and their Keys taken, but for Arthur, the week is still getting worse. Suzy Blue and Fred Gold Numbers have been captured by the Piper, and his New Nithling army still controls most of the Great Maze. Superior Saturday is causing trouble wherever she can, including turning off all the elevators in the House and blocking the Front Door. Amidst all this trouble, Arthur must weigh an offer from Lady Friday that is either a cunning trap for the Rightful Heir or a golden opportunity he must seize--before he's beaten to it!

Lady Friday has decided to give up her key to whomever gets to it first. Those involved in the race are our reluctant hero, Arthur, Superior Saturday and the Piper who entered the picture in the last book as the leader of the New Nithlings. Meanwhile, Leaf is trying to rescue her aunt and keep Friday from sucking life experiences out of elderly humans. This wasn't my favorite. Seemed like a filler.

Good overall, but boring compared to the others in the Keys series. Not my favorite, but still a good read.

“Have you read all of this second letter?” Arthur asked Pirkin cautiously. His hand fell to the Fourth Key at his side. He hadn't put his belt back on, but he'd made sure it was never out of reach.“I read 'em both,” said Pirkin. “But like Oddkin said, it's just a load of old jetsam. Kill Piper's children? Kill Raised Rats? That's not something the association would stand for, I tell you. That Saturday ain't got no rights here. She can do whatever she wants in the Upper House, I suppose, but no one here is going to do stupid stuff just because she says so."The Piper is making his own bid for power, so Arthur has a rival in his quest to wrest control of the keys from the Morrow Days. This seems more like a section of a longer work than a book with a beginning, a middle, and an end of its own.

This book is the fifth book in the series that follows lord Arthur who had survived encounters with 4 of the trustees of the house. This one starts with Leaf in a hospital bed where she saw lady Friday lead sleep walkers into a pool that she followed them into. There she is found and put in the care of a care taker that prepares the sleepers to have their experiences taken away by lady Friday. While this is happening Arthur is tricked into going to the middle house where he is ambushed by fetchers. Then he rode a river to get to the library where he found the will and a fake fifth key and had to use the keys to stop the flow of nothing. Then he went and took the real key from lady Friday and apprehend her dawn and dusk. Then back on earth he finds that the army is about to nuke a nearby hospital. I thought that this book like the books before it was amazing. The adventure and element of fear and excitement that is always there adds to the atmosphere of action. I thought that the tension story line and other elements make this book amazing. The superior literature also helps to further the mood to where you literal can not put the book down. Garth Nix seems to be an author of renown and I can not wait to find the next book so I can read it. Though there are large breaks in my reading because they are so hard to find.

I loved how much time in this book was spent with Leaf. I think the focus on her is the first time the point of view has spent so much time with a character other than Arthur -- we don't see the adventures of Suzy Turquoise Blue in quite the same way, for example. The more inhuman Arthur becomes, the more time is spent with Leaf...

Each new book seems less and less resolved than the others, partly because the first two books make you begin to expect Arthur to go home at the end, and partly because the pace is ratcheting up.

Surprisingly enough, I liked the Fifth part of the Will, and am slightly less worried about the Will. Still. We'll see. I was entertained by Arthur simply grabbing back the keys when he needed them, even if it was unintentional. Yay Arthur!

Episode five of our saga finds Arthur in the realm of Lady Friday who is a scary character fond of paperwork.

Definitely not one of the best books in the Keys to the Kingdom series. The first half is kind of slow and I found it hard to keep myself interested. It did pick up near the end, but it never got -really- good.I do like part five of the Will, and I absolutely adore Ugham, but they are the only two things that are really good that the other books don't have. But I'm still looking forward to the next two books. I can sense a big finale, and I really hope Garth Nix doesn't let me down.

Lady friday is an excellent book written by Garth Nix. I gave this book three and a half stars for a few reasons. one reason is because i have read all the books in this series before this one and i didnt like it as much as the other books. Garth Nix is usually a great writer but in the middle i felt as if the plot was dragging on. Also, dame primus, (the main charachter arthur's friend) does not act like the old helpfull dame primus and i was wondering if she even was going to be arthurs freind. overall, i liked this book because it had most of the same funny charachters along with some new ones. Garth Nix always amazes me with his outstanding writing.Just when i was thinking about dropping this book, he yanked up the pace and made me keep reeding with exitement. Lady Friday is a great book and I would recomend it to anyone who loves fast paced action books.

Arthur Penhaligon remains in the House after defeating Sir Thursday in the Great Maze and retrieving the 4th key. Now he must locate Lady Friday and the 5th part of the will. Little does he know that his friend, Leaf, has returned from the Secondary Realm (earth) and is trapped by Lady Friday who has an addiction to the human experiences that she drains from their souls. At the same time as Arthur begins his search, Lady Friday sends a message to Arthur, the Piper, and Superior Saturday - stating that she is giving up her position as trustee and relinquishing the key - first come first serve. But they must find the 5th part of the will first.Arthur has several battles both external and internal in this installment which brings a greater since of drama to this one, but the ending still was a bit rushed, flat. The series still hold interest though as the reader foresees the coming battles.

As the fifth in the Keys to the Kingdom series, there are necessarily **spoilers** for the earlier titles.Arthur Penhaligon is fresh from his triumph in the Great Maze, taking control of the fourth Key and fighting the Piper and his band of New Niths. He received a missive from Lady Friday saying that she has abdicated, leaving the Will and the fifth Key for Superior Saturday, the Piper, and Arthur to duke it out. Arthur must continue on his journey to take control of the keys, all the while trying to use as little sorcery as possible so that he can stay human, and trying to figure out if he can trust his old friend, Suzy Turquoise Blue, since the Piper could potentially control her actions.Looking back on my reading log, I realized that I had only read the book before and had never listened to the audio. So this was a reread but a first-time listen for me, but as it's been over three years since I read any of the books, I had forgotten just about everything. Allan Corduner narrates these stories pitch perfectly, and I was initially surprised at my earlier mediocre rating of 4 stars. The story moves along at a steady clip, Arthur's struggle to do the right thing while avoiding becoming a Denizen is compelling, and then I got to the end and realized why I had found it so forgettable. For the most part, this is an excellent book but the ending fell rather flat for me. Still, I have Superior Saturday at the ready, and I'm looking forward to finishing the series with the two books that I have never read.

Another book in the series I enjoyed very much. It was also a nice change to have a sensible Will.

The fifth book in the Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix did not disappoint me.Leaf wakes up in a strange room in the hospital with a bunch of other sleeping people. The people are transported by Dr. Friday to somewhere in the secondary realms. Meanwhile Arthur gets a message that Lady Friday has abdicated her position as the Keeper of the Fifth Key. When he goes to touch the message he finds out it is a trap. He is immediately transported to somewhere, that he can only assume, is in the middle house.Leaf struggles to figure out a way to save all of the humans from Lady Friday, while Arthur tries desperately to find the 5th part of the Will as well as the Fifth Key. Things are getting desperate in the house and you can't help but wonder if Arthur will be able to fix things and still remain human, or will he become a Denizen and be doomed to live forever in the House? This was one of the best books in this series so far. Arthur has finally let up on his whining and seems to be maturing. He takes control of situations with only a touch of his former uncertainty. Fred and Suzie are again along for the ride and some other interesting characters are introduced.Overall this was a fast-paced book, it was fun, exciting, and easy to read. I actually listened to it on audio book and the audio book was very well done. I can't wait for the next book in the series to be released. On a side note, does anyone else notice these books seem to be following the Seven Deadly Sins? Mister Monday = Sloth, Grim Tuesday = Greed, Lady Wednesday = Gluttony, Sir Thursday = Pride or maybe Wrath, Lady Friday = Envy (of human desires). That would leave Lust and either Pride or Wrath...we'll have to see how Saturday turns out.

The story is getting darker and darker - literally in this case - while Leaf follows Lady Friday to try and save her aunt, Arthur confronts a mysterious beast in the pitch dark. The pace of the stories has become more frantic. Between Arthur's partial take over, Saturday's defence, and The Piper's bid for the rule of the House, basic functions oft eh house are breaking down as denizens lose access to transport and communication. Lady Friday is the most unnerving trustee yet.

I've always loved Garth Nix for the intricate worlds he can create. This is clearly a series for younger people but sometimes you need a nice gentle break from the routine. I've been following this series from the start and I think it continues to get better. Young Arthur gets a few steps closer to the end in this one. Saturday seems to be getting tougher than ever. Sunday seems to want nothing to do with any of it. And at the end Arthur seems to have embraced his role as Heir a bit more due to the sacrifice of another. And you can only wonder if he will than have to sacrifice his humanity. I look forward to the next.

Although I'm liking Arthur more and more with each book in the series, this book included, the story in this book seemed a little flat. You kind of know it's going to follow the same pattern the previous four have, and while that's still a fun way to pass the time, the stories in "Lady Friday" seemed a little more scattered and shallow. Still, the imagery is wonderfully rich and the reading is a lovely distraction from all things mundane.

This was a great addition to the series, however, I found I didn't get into it as much as I did the others. Still very good though, especially Lady Friday; that was a neat twist to the series!

Book 5 is another great read and I recommend it just as much as the previous books in the series while I didn't find it as exciting as book 4 it was none the less a joy to read and as i have said before if you haven't read this book or the rest of the series do yourself a favor and get it as soon as you can anyway you can.

Lady Friday is the fifth adventure in Garth Nix's blockbuster fantasy series The Keys to the Kingdom, and it promises more of everything that made the first four novels so successful. Nix continues to unveil worlds full of surprising creatures, extraordinary people and very original devices and landscapes. While most modern fantasy authors tread the path of Tolkien, Nix reminds us why we venture into the endless possibilities of the fantasy genre: to tread paths that have never been trod before. He constantly pushes the boundaries of what we are used to in a fantasy novel. Perhaps this is the reason his series has been so successful.Like its latest predecessor, Sir Thursday, Lady Friday follows two different plotlines - one for Arthur and one for Leaf - and alternates between the two. We see the main characters of Arthur and Dame Primus developing in interesting directions, as Arthur becomes more assertive and gets used to his authority, and Dame Primus becomes more power-hungry and judgemental. As well as familiar faces, there are more new characters; some friendly, some not. All of this helps to make Lady Friday just as creative and complex as Sir Thursday, and even more exciting and fast-paced. It is also commendable to see how Nix has dealt with the issue of lust without making his novel inappropriate for children – (each Trustee embodies one of the seven deadly sins.)While I can picture all of Nix's creations in my mind, however, it does often require a bit of effort. Sometimes the structures he tried to describe were too huge and abstract for him to effortlessly communicate, and I often felt like I needed him in front of me to help clarify things. It would also have been helpful for him to establish the sizes of his creations by comparing them with familiar objects, rather than give readers their exact dimensions in feet - especially as he is an Australian author, and we use the metric system!Overall, Lady Friday is a good, mind-stretching read for all lovers of fantasy. It may be necessary to concentrate and read slowly in places, but the experience is well worth the effort!

This is the next book in the series and would not make sense if you hadn't read the first four but if you are reading the series don't miss out on this one. Action packed from beginning to end, Arthur continues his quest for the Keys and the next part of the Will, this time he's after the Fifth Key and must face Lady Friday. My only problem with this book was that my favourite character, Suzy Turquoise Blue, didn't show up until about the halfway point. I love the complex world in this fantasy series and I also love the play on words, such as the new character we meet, Peter Perkin Paper Pusher
