- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent. I have been reading Stephen Coonts since his earliest books. He has been a master of style, changing subjects along the way, but always making them interesting and entertaining. I’ve even enjoyed his foray into the flying saucer adventures for Young Adults. They reminded me of the early Robert Heinlein or Asimov books.
Conclusion: Mr Coonts is one heck of a storyteller, which to me is the highest accolade one can give to an author of fiction. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Nice adventure with enough twists and turns to keep turning the pages. Good characters.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The last (that I'm aware of) Jake Grafton novel. Decent, and it was nice to catch up with some "old friends," but there really wasn't anything at all new here to make it stand out. "Serviceable" comes to mind.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Draws on recent headlines--terrorist threat, presidential support, bad guys and shoot-em-up. Carmelini skulks around and does plants sneaky wires, Grafton is inscrutable as ever. Grafton's wife is an incredible woman, enduring hardships beyond those of mortal women. The book is politically naive, but who could write an enjoying and excitable book with our gutless politicians. I could not believe what I was reading when one of the victims is murdered by an icicle. Enjoyable and forgettable book.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5It has been too long since I read this kind of novel...or maybe not long enough. It absolutely is NOT my genre! I used to love [Robert Ludlam] and [John Le Carre]--could it be that Coonts is not of the same calibre or that I am not as gullible or as easily amused?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Jake Grafton and Tommy Carmallini team together in this spy thriller when they support a group of business people that want to attack the Islamic terrorist Abu Qasim's network.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The Assassin by by Stephen CoontsJake Grafton is back! Once again Coonts creates a cliff hanger that you really don’t want to put down. The reality of terrorism is one of the things that makes this book truly sobering. Tommy Carmellini and Jake Grafton team up to stop a radical Islamic assassin. Truth is stranger than fiction. Much of this book could be true. I understand the feelings of frustration and anger portrayed by the characters when dealing with the mindless fanaticism of terrorists. As in all of Coont’s work, the action rocks and the plot rolls. It moves at warp speed and entertains while in some ways depresses. Once again the only solution to a problem seems to be the application of judicious violence. I recommend the book.
