Author

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Another good book by Kristen Ashley, it is the beginning of a new series about The Chaos Motorcycle Club. In this story one of the Club members, Shy, and the Club president's daughter, Tabitha, fall in love and learn how to live as a couple in the world of a motorcycle club. Also, one of Tab's friends gets involved with a rival of the Chaos Club setting the stage for more conflict in future books in this series. This is also a bit of a crossover from the Mystery Man series.

I gave this book 3 stars. 1 for having a happy ending, 1 becuase it was free, and 1 for creativity. I generally don't rate books so low (I typically like all happy ending books).

It took me forever to get into the book first off, second there was so much "biker slang" that I wasn't used to and I still never got used to.

This book was ok, nothing special. It was one of those books you just have lying around and once you read it you don't read it again. I'm still trying to figure out the plot.

Overall this book was nothing special. It didn't make me melt, it didn't make me sad, it didn't make me angry.

Man, Kristen Ashley knows how to write a book. I've been waiting to read this since I read Motorcycle Man and was beyond thrilled to get an ARC. Shy is Tack 2.0 in that he acts just like him, which means he's a total badass and he's just smokin hot. And Tabby....where to begin? When I first meet her (in MM) I didn't really like her because she just acted like a brat, but the more I read about her the more I started to see that that was mainly her mother's influence and her immaturity. So, having her grow up and actually reading about it I began to really like her. That poor girl goes through some terrible stuff and thankfully Shy was there to help her pull through it all to become a stronger person. Of course it wasn't an easy road, but Shy was man enough to get her to the other side of it all. That being said, this book had me laughing, smiling, getting mad and even brought a few tears for both Tabby's loss and Shy's grief. This book was just a kick-ass start to a series that is definitely going to be a favorite for me. And it's always cool to see peeks from characters from Ms. Ashley's Rock Chick and Dream Man series, both of which are in my top 10 favorite series. I tell anyone who will listen to me that they need to read this author and recommend her every chance I get. It will be a long couple months til the second book comes out, but thankfully I can always reread my other KA books. So, in short....READ THIS BOOK!

Good story, though way, WAY tamer than most that I've read that involve an MC. That's good, actually, as I've been traumatized a lot lately. There's drama though... lots of drama... just, nothing terribly horrific. I loved that it was set in Colorado and I loved Shy. *sigh*

And it had an ending, which was nice too. Definitely going to read the next one... I'm already wondering what Hop and Lanie have been sneaking around doing, so that should be a good read.

I loved this book but then again it's a KA so of course I would. In the past I've struggled with understanding MC life and their ways. I'm so happy that KA has created a badass MC that isn't full of a bunch of a-holes but are still tough enough get respect. Loved Shy (HOT) and Tabby together. This series is going to be good! Can't wait for book 2!!

Ok, really I didn't like this book, AT ALL. But mostly I didn't like it because it wasn't 'my scene'. The whole biker nicknames and slang and dialect just wasn't working for me. It might have been very authentic sounding, and extremely interesting to some, and I don't doubt it is. I just didn't dig it. I usually REALLY like this author's books, but this one just didn't do shit for me. I liked all the characters alright, and the plot was decent. I just didn't get into it, and with just 15% more to go just decided enough was enough. I could NOT care less how the ends were tied! So, I won't be reading the rest of the series! hehehehe. Really, there wasn't anything wrong with the book aside from it was like playing golf when you would rather play laser tag.

Oh, how I missed the constant badassness that is the men in a KA novel! This one was another one of KA`s great works, and although she might make things a little reptitive I think my addiction to her stories makes me able to get passed that fact. I really liked how in this story we got to see another generation of the biker world and how that linked with the previous story about Tack and Tyra. Shy and Tabby were incredibly hot together and I have to say that having and editor made Ka`s books that much sweeter to read. Amazing!

I'm so bouncy happy that I've read this. One thing that annoyed me is not the alternating pov's but the fact that they were alternating tenses. That was just weird and confused my brain.
Anyway, reading this was like reading SoA, only a slightly more romantic, tamed and a lot more sane version of SoA.
Shy is a great male character and Tabitha is a solid female, sting, decisive and very cool.
Honestly enjoyed this book. Highly recommended.
4.5 stars for that annoying tense thing I mentioned at the beginning.

I was concerned Tabby and Shy were too young to have a book, but Ashley did a great job with the story. This was a marked improvement over many of her self-published works. All the things I love about Ashley's work remained, but all the excess was cut out.

There are a number of things which I don't like in this book. Most are probably just me, not the book. The way the characters talk just didn't ring true. I find the term old lady funny (especially when a 22-year-old calls herself one), but I don't know anything about bikers except they are supposed to be hot in books. I can't find a single reason why I should think Shy calling women bitches is acceptable to anyone. Worse, a few times I don't think he used the term as an insult.

The story is told from two POVs, Shy's and Tabitha's (only once Tabitha's father) and I like how there is nothing instant about their story. It takes a while for them to get to their relationship. They become friends first, even though they both want more. The second thing I like is the author doesn't use cheating as a means to move the story.
I think Shy is more complex character than Tabitha.

Good, but not AS good as Motorycycle Man.

Is it wrong to want Landon and Rush to hook up?

    The things I didn't like:

The time skips. KA is known for skipping around time wise, going way forward, then "filling in the blanks", but I don't remember it being so blatant, with all the "three months later, 4 weeks later, etc etc" at the beginning of each chapter. Also, it seemed like every time she did her fill in, this went on so long that by the time she was back to "now", I was lost and couldn't remember what was going on "now". I'd have to flip back to see who she was talking to and about what.

The speech. I know, KA has her own way of having people talk, but it's starting to wear on me. I think I didn't notice it so much before because I read most of what I read back to back, and now I have a bit of distance. Her men are all men of few words, and I get that, but they are all men of the SAME FEW WORDS. "you feel me". "I gave her that play". The way they all say "beautiful" all the freaking time. And usually the women have their own voice, but Tabby just sounded like the guys to me. I know it's cause she was raised in the biker world, but it kinda bugged me anyway.

Sooo many "moments". I love reading about that special moment a character has, when they realize "this is it". That this is the relationship, the love they have been waiting for. But OTW had so many of these "moments". Every chapter seemed to have one or the other character just stopping and thinking about how awesome things are. It felt like all the "endings" in the last Lord of the Rings movie. We get it, you're happy, you're in love, everything is roses and puppies, enough already with the moments.

But the things I loved: Shy. I really loved this guy. He was hard, but he was also sweet and sexy and fairly quick to act on things to make things better. Well, other than not telling her he loved her for 4 years.

Tack. Come on, there can never be too much Tack Allen.

Tabby. I mostly enjoyed Tab a lot. Yes, she spent a year hiding from what she felt for Shy, but I got it. She had just experienced a HUGE loss, she wasn't ready for something new, she felt guilty for feeling happy again, and most of all, she just didn't think Shy could look at her that way.

The sex was hot. I know, KA said that her Unfinished Heroes series was supposed to be "hotter" and naughtier, but really, I find the sex in her other series much hotter. I don't need spankings and "daddy", just because that's popular right now.

I'm ready for a non-biker book, to see if maybe the language is a bit easier on me. I also REALLY hope we get Elvira and Malik's story. All the times we've seen Elvira, she hasn't had a man, and has talked about the other women and their badasses, now Elvira has her own badass, and I want that story! Has anyone heard if that is in the pipeline?

I sooooo get the Kristen Ashley fangirl squeeing that's been going on online now. I. Loved. This. Book. Must read book two SOON. Like, REALLY soon. You feel me? ;)Favorite quote (okay, one of many): "I decided that all's well that ends without bloodshed." An excellent rule of thumb.Fans of Ashley will recognize the hero and heroine from her earlier novel Motorcycle Man--Tabby is Tack's daughter, and Shy is a member of his motorcycle club, Chaos. Wind starts when Tabby is nineteen and in college to become a nurse. Shy does something early on to make their relationship into a non-relationship. Tabby completely avoids Shy for four years, and that part of the story is told from his point of view in the third person, skipping months at a time to just show us the pertinent events during that time period. After that four year stretch, most of the novel is told from Tabby's first-person point of view, with just a few forays back into third person for Shy's (and once, Tack's) side of events. Often this kind of switching in a novel seems like cheating, but let me tell you--here, it totally works.Tabby and Shy's relationship develops slowly--antagonists, to friends, to something more, to lovers--and absolutely believably. I loved the progression. Ashley also did a fantastic job with Tabby's grief at the beginning of the story--it was absolutely spot-on. The conversation that she had with Tyra, her stepmother about the feelings she was starting to have for Shy and how conflicted they made her--just awesome. (The only tiny, niggling problem I had with that part of the storyline came at the end, when Shy put in his two cents about what Tabby's former fiance would--or would not--have wanted for her. I get what Shy and Ashley were saying, I really do. But my personal bias just sat up and said no at that point. I know that's me, though, and obviously, it didn't affect my rating of this book at all. I really don't want to believe that that could be true, though. It's not fair.)Tabby and Shy have far from a perfect relationship and face all kinds of problems in the novel from work, family, and friends. Even though I personally wouldn't have agreed with all of their choices, Ashley made me believe that they'd work for them. I am about as far from a biker babe as you can get, but this novel had me totally buying into the culture. For them, mind you, not for me. And I am absolutely coming back for more.I've heard of Ashley's books described as "cracktastic" and like Pringles. (As in, you can't stop with one.) Let me tell you--they're not wrong. I cannot wait for book two, and after that, her backlist.I'm going to be busy for a while. And happy.

Yay for KA-this book was fantastic! I loved it, for the most part. I still have a hard time getting past the way her characters talk, but I was impressed and pleased by the level of editing this time around. IT WAS AWESOME!! I loved getting to know the characters from Motorcycle Man again and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more in this series.

10 Freaking Stars KA has done it again . I Freaking LOVED this book ...

Once again KA has done it with another book . I had no doubt in my mind that this book would ROCK , but I will say it ROCKED way more than I thought it would . This book was ABSO-LUTELY-FAN-FLIPPIN-TASTIC ….

I am pretty sure I have 85% of the book highlighted. I mean she really laid down the smack down with this one and the verbal back and forth was AMAZINGBALLS … in true biker style .

I will say this if you have not read the Dream Man series , you should before you read this one , because this one branches off of that series and in order to get the full effect and get all squishy and lovey , from the Cameo’s you need to read that series , so when the men and woman from the Dream Series make appearances you can truly appreciate the book fully.

Tabby is the daughter of the Motorcycle club Own Tack, and Shy is a Brother in that club. As anyone who knows anything about biker clubs, daughter’s are off limits . Shy and Tabby have always been friends , but what Shy does not know is that Tabby has had a crush on him for a longtime , and what Tabby does not know is that Shy has been crushing on her for the last 4 yrs . He still had the taste of her on his tongue from one kiss ( total swoon moment there )

"I had a taste of you four years ago that I could never get off my tongue. Now, I've tasted more of you with more than just my mouth and I know I wanna keep it in a way I don't want to think of it bein' done. Not in a few weeks. Not in a few months. Maybe not ever"

Parker “Shy” Cage , just his name is amazing in itself, but add to that biker attitude , a little romance , and a whole lotta looking out for and protecting and he is AMAZINGBALLS ….

Shy see’s Tabby going down a road she should not be going and he decides to step in and try to guide her away from her path that she is on. What he did not do was think before he decided to do what he did and it did not go so well for him . Tabby in turn being hurt deeply by him , stayed clear of him as much as she could .

When tragedy strikes Tabby, Shy steps in to help her heal and becomes her friend and shoulder to lean on . he helps her to heal and become herself again. ( no no one major dies )

"You need a safe place to just forget shit and escape, I'll give it to you. Tonight. Tomorrow. Next week. Next month. That safe place is me, Tabby.""

They go through some ups and downs and ins and outs, but once they become a couple it is Amazing from then on out with them together. Shy owned up to his screw –ups apologized and they moved on , It was awesome how well these two are fit for each other .

I LOVED this story , it has so much hotness to it, protectiveness , Love, & emotions. The Epilogue was there , although not as long as what KA usually does , but I was very happy with the end of this book and I know we will hear from Shy and Tabby in the rest of this series . I can not wait to see where it goes with Hop and Lanie in the next book .

These are some more of the quotes I LOVED in this book , but not all of them or My whole book would be a review lol .

"Promise me right now, my d*** still inside you, you naked on top of me in my bed, sharing what we just shared, us having a taste of what it's like apart and knowin' were better together, you won't leave me.... You'll stick with me until there's nothing to stick to, if that ever happens.""

"May feel like you're fallin', Tabby, but remember, I'm at the bottom ready to catch you."

“ I have never, not once, not in my life, made love to any woman. Not once. Not until what I just did with you .”

"Shy, she's yours... Control your woman," High demanded. "Get her a** out."
My eyes went to Shy to see him looking at High, and he wasn't looking pissed.
    He was looking reflective.
Then he said, "Tab and I don't play it that way. You wanna order your old lady around, do what you do, not for me to say. I asked her to go, she didn't go. Not gonna make her. But you try, you'll deal with me.""

    “I dreamed a dream, Shy.”
    “You’ll dream more dreams, baby.”
“I’ll never dream,” she whispered, her voice lost, tragic. “We’ll get you to a dream, honey,” he promised, pulling her closer.

“ I dreamed a dream when I was sixteen and here I am, standing with my dream, feeling it come real.’

Reviewed by: Crystal BBook provided by: Netgalley for reviewReview originally posted at Romancing the BookOwn the Wind is the first book I have read by Kristen Ashley. I had many emotions while reading this book. I have to admit when I started this book I wasn’t all that fond of Shy Cage. I thought he was a jerk. However the more I read, the more I found myself liking this guy. He was so darn sweet and caring while Tabby was trying to get her life back after suffering such a loss. I loved how these two formed such bond of friendship before moving forward to more. I love romantic relationships that start out as friends first.Of course at the beginning of this story I wasn’t too fond of Tabby either. I thought she was a brat that took way to many chances that brother’s had to save her from. As I read on I found I really did like Tabby and her spunky attitude. She suffers a great loss and Shy is there for her to lean on, to be what ever she needs him to be. The more time they spend together things start to heat up. These two both have explosive tempers that lead to some pretty heated love scenes.Tabby, having grown up as the daughter of Chaos’ leader, knows what life is like to be the girl of a club member. Life can be tough but being loved by Shy makes it all worth it. I also appreciated the fact that Tabby had her step mother to turn to for advice. Tabby & Cherry share a very special relationship. This book is full of LOTS of drama, action, and oh so many HOT and Spicy scenes. If you are looking for an action packed hot read you must check this one out. There is a lot of swearing and f word usage in this book so if that is not your thing you might not enjoy this book as much.I would enjoy reading more of the Choas series by Kristen Ashley, I’m anxious to see what happens next.

But even lucky men can crash and burn...MY REVIEW:First and foremost, thank you to Grand Central and Netgalley for not only the opportunity to give an honest review on this piece, but also for introducing me to an exciting new author. This book is very moving. That’s the sentence I’d use to summarize just what I went through in reading this piece. I was floored several times by some of the developments the characters made, and despite some of the confusing word play, was engaged page by page. Shy is a real character you can identify with. The author makes him believable and through his head, helps us go on the wild journey with him to find love. Tabby drove my insane with her lack of communication with Shy, but I couldn’t help falling in love with her as well. Like I said to start, this book is very moving and will take you on the emotional rollercoaster of your life and one you won’t forget. The story will leave you wanting more and thankfully, as research and the next released ARC indicate, Ms. Ashley has made this into a series.Great read, good fun, nice job. Four out of five stars.
