      Emotional, spiritual and so wonderful. Caused me to think of how my fears have brought me so much pain. I love Karen’s heart, her mind and her creativity.

      A psychological drama around the issue of 'testtube pregnancies'. The various personalitites and relationships are all flawed. When they are put under stress by the turn of events some break, others come through strengthened. Most of the story is told over a period of about a year, but the segments are out of chronological order, and from varying points of view. However, they are not hard to follow, and the tension is built up partially because you know (something of) how it is going to work out. This still leaves room for unexpected twists. I wish the locale had played a stronger role. Most of the book had so little description of the setting that I was somewhat disoriented when London did become important.

      I really liked the idea of this storyline and, indeed it was intriguing (and heartbreaking when thinking of the real-life scenarios couples go through to concieve). Michael and Harriet are not really happy together when they embark on IVF treatment and Harriet has a difficult relationship both with her mother and even her best friend. It is not, therefore, the best foundation to start with. However couples do get lulled into a sense that everything would be okay if only they could have a baby and so I didn't find their going ahead with the procedure unrealistic. However as things go from bad to much worse I had the feeling that the reactions of some of the characters, Harriets mother in particular, were not true to themselves. This very straightlaced, insistent woman did not demand to see her daughter when the chips were down.The plot was quite intricate but, for me, I think this whole story would have worked much better if the author had played it chronolgically. I could see that by introducing the tension early she let the reader in on awful events further down the line but, in this case, a slow build up as Harriet's mental health deteriorated, might have been a better plan.

      Bailey is now 22, and is working in the Broadway show, Hairspray.
      She's been going out with movie star Brandon Paul and their relationship is deepening. While she still has some feelings for Cody Coleman, she's coming to the realization that he may never have been "the one" for her. Meanwhile, Cody is excelling in his football coaching career and dating Cheyenne, a beautiful girl who is recovering from an almost fatal car accident.

      I have been annoyed that Kingsbury has brought Bailey and Cody together and torn them apart several times. I was completely taken by surprise that for the first time their love was in question. There is still one more book until Bailey, Cody and Brandon's story is ultimately complete.

      I think long time fans will appreciate how this series touches young people in the same way as her previous books have spoken to women of all ages.

      I like so many of Karen Kingsbury's books but I was disappointed in this one. It seems very manipulated and less developed than others.

      Longing is the third book in the Bailey series. Bailey has loved Cody since she was in high school and she is now in New York dancing in Hair Spray.We have watched her finish high school, go to college, film the movie Unlocked and move to New York. We have watched this relationship hit high points and very low points. In the last book (maybe it was the one before) Bailey started a relationship with Brandon Paul, a very popular movie star from Hollywood that she filmed Unlocked with.

      So at first I go - hummmm this is just like the Dayne and Katie story. Been there done that - and after reading Longing I still kind of feel that way. I have been a team Cody fan from the beginning because I watched their love grow but after reading Longing, I might have to change my mind. I don't want to change my mind but I think Cody still has some grwong up to do to be worthy of Bailey's love. I also feel that Bailey is out of her league a little with Brandon. She is a small town girl who yes earns a spot in a Broadway musical but having a realationship with a major star?

      But this is a book not to be missed - there is so much growth in the characters and the bonus of the Baxters showing up and being able to catch up with the going on's of their lives. Then there is the Bible Study group that Bailey started

      What happens with Cody and Chey is just not to be missed. That is not to take away the magic of Baily and Brandon. It is just amazing to see how God works in all these situations and circumstances. I love how God speaks to their characters, I am not that lucky.

      I read Longing by Karen Kingsbury this semester the Longing picks up where Learning ended. Bailey Flanigan was lonely after her long-time boyfriend, Cody Coleman, breaks up with her after he returned from Iraq. Bailey gets closer to her one-time Hollywood co-star, Brandon Paul. Brandon Paul is the hottest movie star and all the girls crush over him. Meanwhile, Bailey lives in New York city, performing on Broadway eight times a week. She can’t help but be confused with new feelings for Brandon that make her wonder if her days with Cody are over. Cody starts getting national attention for his coaching of a small-town football team. He gets himself closer to a lady who understands him and his new life but, throughout the book, Bailey and Cody experience feelings of longing for each other, longing both for the past and for answers so they can move forward. The cover design is very modern and appealing to me. It has a piture of Bailey and Brandon Paul talking to each other. You should read this book if you want to read about love and romance. It also briefly deals with the drama of cancer and regret. Cody regrets leaving Bailey and there is a lot of feelings and emotions thrown into their encounters.

      Love KK books! I'm starting to get frustrated, though with the team Cody and team Brandon thing. I'd just love to see her pick, and wrap up the book series. It's been dragging on for too long. All in all though, another great book, inspiring, and had me hooked already on the first page as always.

      Another two thumbs up on this newest book in the Bailey Flanigan Series. There is such a wide variety of people in these stories and you feel like you know them all so well (if you read the books as they were written). It is a story of family and friends, of love and commitment, of seeking to put Christ first in a person's life and decisions, even when tough times come.In this story Bailey finds herself enjoying more and more the company of Hollywood's sought after actor, Brandon Paul. She still thinks about the guy, Cody Coleman, who she thought she would spend the rest of her life loving, and wonders why he has walked away from her life. Brandon Paul though helps ease the pain of loss as he falls head over heels for Bailey. Cody, meanwhile is leading his high school football team to State Finals and trying to forget Bailey and stand by a good friend as she goes through tough times in her life. But Cody and Bailey do come face to face with each other and they both have a chance to share what is on their heart. I won't ruin anything here, but just say that even though I may not have liked the direction this story is going in, I understand why things are progressing as they are. Karen Kingsbury is a great writer and the people she writes about come alive on the pages of her book. I can't wait to see how this series ends!!!
