They are both such damaged characters, but they are good for one another. One Week Girlfriend and Second Chance Boyfriend both deal with serious issues of sexual abuse, neglect, and people with a complete lack of self-esteem. At times the books can be difficult to read because of the issues, but the overall story is one of survival, hope, acceptance and love. I enjoyed Second Chance Boyfriend and opportunity for Fable and Drew to get it right this time. For a big, bad football star, Drew is remarkably romantic and sweet. Fable is all sarcastic tough-girl. The combination makes a good read.The next in the series is Three Broken Promises. Can't wait to share my thoughts with you all!~Shel
***I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review***When I saw that we would get more Drew and Fable, I was ecstatic! After the very emotional and fantastic story One Week Girlfriend, I was impatiently waiting to see if Drew and Fable would get their HEA! I am so glad I was able to read this story.Once again Drew and Fable both have some obstacles to overcome, and they had to fight to get what they wanted! Ms. Murphy wrote a wonderful story that starts with heartache and ends a beautiful love story. I will read this one again. I love this series!
It took a really long time for me to get this book, and when I finally picked it up to read it, I realized it was book 2 from a series!!! UGHHHH!!!! Needless to say I couldn't finish this book due to not knowing the backdrop to book one. What I did read of it sounds fun for this particular genre.
This review is way late, mainly because I didn't receive it for months; and by the time I did receive it, I had too many other books on my plate.So, here is my way late review.First off, I am a huge fan of the NA genre. I love all the broken girls and broken boys who manage to find each other. However, this series is different from many others in the genre. The main difference is that Drew and Fable's story isn't wrapped up in a nice little bow. Now, I will admit that it drove me crazy. I like to be able to sit down and read a book cover to cover and have everything solved. I did not know that their story was going to continue on in another book. So, sadly, that makes me like it a bit less.If I can get passed that fact, this is a good book. The steam was off the charts, and I found myself wanting to go back and re-read those parts! But, I just have a hard time with good guys. Drew is one of those really good, mushy, romantic guys; and while so many readers love him for that, I just got annoyed. I like the troubled guys with some spice, and Drew just didn't have it for me.Fable, though, was awesome. I just love her character, and I really feel for her struggles trying to provide for her brother, Owen. Fable is heart-breaking and you really get to see her life in this book.
I enjoyed this book. I read the first book in this series earlier this year. I really enjoyed that book. This one continues after Fable and Drew return from spending the Thanksgiving holiday with Drew's family. Drew is the rich college boy while Fable is the local poor townie known for being easy. This book started out slow. Drew not contacting Fable which hurts her feelings. Fable continues living and is offered a better paying job and runs into Drew during one of her shifts. They pick up right where they left off after Thanksgiving. Not going to reveal anymore. I enjoyed it and at times I did get annoyed with some of the stuff. I will add the series to one to finish.
This book has many facets that I can't even begin to describe. The angst style that the author writes is so heart wrenchingly beautiful that I'm in agony the entire book. We all know these two should not be together but when they are it looks and feels right. When they are apart then everything goes so wrong. Drew is fucked up, plain and simple. His child hood was screwed up by his step mom, and the loss of his sister. It seems like the step mom won't stop until she messes up everyone's lives. Fable needs a chance in life because she is constantly getting the crap end of the deal. Can two young lovers who are messed up with their families survive? Thanks librarything for a copy of this book in exchange for my thoughts.
a great continuation of Drew and Fable's story. A really sexy, believable account of young love. The challenges they face make you root for them from the get go. I'd love to see what the future holds for them...
When I received the advance copy of this book to review I thought it might be a sequel. I checked my electronic books, and sue enough I had the first one, One Week Girlfriend, on my e-reader. Well, a girl can't read a second book without first reading the first book, so..... I stayed up super late and devoured the first book. Second Chance Boyfriend was eagerly anticipated (even though I only had to wait until the next day). I flew through the book and was happy to find that two people who were so badly damaged could find comfort in one another. The story was not deep and did not require too much though, which is perfect my late night reading habits. It was, however, a page turner because I needed to know how things could possibly work out..... Fast and feisty, enjoyable read.
Oh my gosh, how have I not heard of this series before? I won a copy of Second Chance Boyfriend from the Librarything Early Reviewers program and I had no idea what it was about. All I knew was that this was a New Adult novel, and since New Adult has become one of my favorite genres to read, I couldn't wait to see how it one turned out. Leaving Fable after spending the most incredible night of their week-long relationship with only a note was the hardest thing Drew has ever done. But Drew has spent his entire life running from things he can't cope with, and his relationship with Fable just so happened to be one of those things. Two months later, and Fable is still heartbroken over the guy who turned her entire life around in only one week. Shouldn't she be over him by now? Not only is Fable hurt, but she's beyond mad at how Drew just walked away. But when life throws them back together, their undeniable attraction comes back stronger than ever, making it impossible for them to stay away from each other. Wow. I sure missed a lot in the first book, because these two characters are completely broken about over what had happened at the end of the first book. I was able to piece enough information together, though, to understand the gist of what happened before. Then, I was able watch how they deal with two months of being separated until they're finally forced to face each other. Fable and Drew have some intense chemistry, but their emotional connection runs even deeper. I think the reason the emotions run so deep between Fable and Drew is because how intense their characters are. If I had seen a girl like Fable on the street, I probably would have instantly judged her as the promiscuous blonde that everyone already labels her. But being inside her mind, it's clear that Fable is so much more than her looks. And Drew. Oh, Drew. He may be the hot-shot quarterback on campus, but he so doesn't act like that in real life. The fact that he's actually pretty quiet, shy, and sweet makes him so freaking adorable. Seriously, forget the confident bad boy. I'd take Drew any day. Oh, and let's not forget the serious drama going down with Fable's mom and with Drew's family. Those two have so much to deal with and there are some pretty heavy, emotional secrets in their past that have really affected their lives. I know a lot was revealed about their pasts in the first book, which is why I really wish I had read it and probably will once I have a chance, but both of them have to confront those issues in this novel. Like I said, this book was pretty much impossible to put down. I loved how complex and emotional the main characters were, and how intense their relationship was. I never got to see them actually fall for each other in the first book, but their relationship definitely grows and they have to trust each other even more than ever in this book. Any New Adult fan has to check out Monica Murphy's One Week Girlfriend series ASAP. I can't wait to get my hands on the first book, and then devour the third book that came out in December. I can't wait!

The first book was really good and enjoyed it completely, and really looked forward to the continuation of the story. This book totally delivered! I loved the character interaction and the strong feelings that they had for each other. I loved that the "strong/alpha" male (Drew) wasn't afraid to go get help for the mind games that his step monster played with him in the first book. I loved that he constantly came to the aid of the main female character (Fable), and that he needed her to complete himself. You have to read the 1st book to get everything in this book. It's not a standalone story, but OMG they are so worth the read!
Monica Murphy was created a fun, fast-paced, steamy story that features two individuals with lives that aren't exactly filled with sunshine and lolly pops. Fable is desperately trying to let go of the feelings she holds for the boy who changed her in a week's time. Drew has convinced himself that he's not good enough for Fable, and is dealing with a psychotic step-mother that holds information that just might break what little sanity that Drew has, especially if he can't convince Fable to give him a second chance.Second Chance Boyfriend is a great addition to the story that began in the first book. I envy the love and passion that burns between Drew and Fable and hope they have receive the happily ever after that they both have earned. The story was a bit predictable, but Murphy again threw in some entrancing twists that gave the story some flare.I would definitely recommend this book to others. I enjoyed the writing style and the story, and I definitely loved the characters.
I enjoyed this second book in the story of Drew and Fable. Monica Murphy's storyline was somewhat predictable, even though I did find it different than a lot of the new adult books out there. I do believe that the two books could have been combined into one and been just as satisfying. Some of the scenes between Drew and Fable were a little repetitive. Thank you Library Thing Early Reviewers for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Drew and Fable have not seen or talked to each other in a couple of months. Both are trying to move on with their lives as best as they can, but each of them continue to think about the other. Drew has sought out a doctor to talk through his past and his potential future. Fable is offered a new and improved job, and this is where they finally see each other again. Thankfully, Fable is open to discussing things with Drew in order to determine what happened and where their relationship stands. Drew is also more open to Fable, and they quickly realize that although they both must endure tough situations, they cannot make it without each other. I have really enjoyed how Ms. Murphy takes this difficult subject matter and discusses it with such passion. My love for Drew and Fable has grown in this novel. I cannot wait to read their forever! (still have not received this from publisher, but I had to know what happened!)
One Week Girlfriend was one of those books that really stuck with me (see my review). I loved getting to know Drew and Fable and their incredible story. Considering where they were left at the end of the book, I was quite excited about starting Second Chance Boyfriend and discovering the rest of their story. These are two characters I really wanted to get their HEA. SCB takes place two months after where OWG left off. Once again, there is something so refreshing and beautiful about the characters of Drew and Fable. They are not the frequently portrayed alpha male and damsel in distress. Fable is so strong despite those around her trying to break her down, and so loving and faithful despite the lack of love in her upbringing. She is fierce and loyal. Drew is learning not to run, getting stronger emotionally, growing and coming into his better self. He also has this poetic side that made me swoon. Separately, they are hurting characters who have handled their difficulties very differently. But those differences have somehow brought them together. And these two very different people can proceed to heal each other. I loved the way Murphy wrote out Drew and Fable's relationship. They must deal with the hurts of not only their individual pasts and present from others, but must also deal with how Drew hurt Fable and how Fable reacts to Drew. And though there is the necessary angst in this book, I enjoyed how Murphy used it to bring them together and how they learned how to handle things and each other. Their unconditional love and amazing support of one another was a beautiful thing. I loved how they worked together as a couple and brought out each other's very best. But beyond the serious, they are cute and funny and have such a sweetness about them that was a pleasure to read. And, of course, their chemistry was fiery and off the charts. We also get to know Fable's brother, Owen, more. I loved Owen and wished I could gather him up and have him live with me and my sons. He was a great addition to the story, and I look forward to his book. We also meet Colin, Fable's boss, and Jen, her co-worker. Their additions were just enough to give the story that extra oomph, but not be overkill. Drew's dad was well-played as well, and I appreciated how Murphy integrated him into the story. The use of secondary characters here was just enough to add to the depth of the story without taking away from Drew and Fable. Overall, I loved this story. Drew and Fable are an amazing, imperfect couple with an incredible, touching story. Watching these two broken people heal, find love and acceptance and hope, find someone who loves them unconditionally - it was beautifully done and a pleasure to read. I look forward to the rest of the books in this quartet and hope for more Drew and Fable appearances, because they are that special.
Finally, an end to Drew and Fable's story. I was worried after the first few chapters that they would be at odds for most of the book, but that didn't happen. The book centers on how Drew and Fable are finally able to deal with some of their family issues and put a few of their problems behind them. A good, quick read.(Though a little heavy on the sex).
Unfortunately, this 2nd installment held my attention less than the 1st. I liked the beginning, as well as the ending, but the middle dragged for me. I'm not continuing the series.
Awwwww, so sweet. The Marshmallow poems just had me swooning all over the place. Love!

I also think that whenever I hear the word "marshmallow" it will remind me of this and the previous book and make me smile. Can I also say that I think Drew and Fable are a really cute couple and perfect for each other :D

I enjoyed One Week Girlfriend much better than Second Chance Boyfriend The couple, Fable and Drew, both seemed more mature in OWG than in book #2. I liked them better in book #1 too.
I would think there would/should have been much more fallout after the "big dramatic scene" with Adele, instead we get an immediate HEA...the end. Considering Fabel and Drew's obsessing over everything up to this point the end seemed trite and rushed.
