About this audiobook

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY LIBRARY JOURNAL

In Robin York's sizzling debut, a college student is attacked online and must restore her name-and stay clear of a guy who's wrong for her, but feels so right.

When Caroline Piasecki's ex-boyfriend posts their sex pictures on the Internet, it destroys her reputation as a nice college girl. Suddenly her once-promising future doesn't look so bright. Caroline tries to make the pictures disappear, hoping time will bury her shame. Then a guy she barely knows rises to her defense and punches her ex to the ground.

West Leavitt is the last person Caroline needs in her life. Everyone knows he's shady. Still, Caroline is drawn to his confidence and swagger-even after promising her dad she'll keep her distance. On late, sleepless nights, Caroline starts wandering into the bakery where West works.

They hang out, they talk, they listen. Though Caroline and West tell each other they're "just friends," their feelings intensify until it becomes impossible to pretend. The more complicated her relationship with West gets, the harder Caroline has to struggle to discover what she wants for herself-and the easier it becomes to find the courage she needs to fight back against the people who would judge her.

When all seems lost, sometimes the only place to go is deeper.

This was a well written, witty and funny NA book. This is a story of opposites and what happens when they attract.Caroline was the girl next door, who will be the next Senator. She is determined and driven. She has no time for parties, college and controversy! Little did she know that she'd be thrown into all of that because of her ex-boyfriend Nate. She is devastated and is trying to pick up the pieces so she can regain a normal life. She also has a secret crush on West...her once dorm mate, and bad news college mistake. Caroline comes from a single father who is trying to show his daughters that they can be anything, by being VERY over protective.West is the dangerous, neighbor from Freshman year. I loved West from the beginning! He was dominate and aggressive and every thing you'd want in a male hero! He had me from the Dinty Moore cans and rusty old car. They both secretly have some sort of feelings that they can't figure out."The problem with Caroline isn't that I want her The problem is that to help her, want to learn her, and want to fix her, and I can't do that. I can't get caught up with her or she'll distract me and I'll wreck everything."They were exactly what they didn't need. Caroline had a nude picture issue, Nate had family problems...They needed each other to lean on, but because of their issues they were toxic matches.I don't want to get into the story too much, because it would give it away. This is a great read it gets a certified Nerd Alert A.

I received this book for free through LibraryThing's Early Reviewers. Oh my gawd this book was so good. The main characters, Caroline and West, were so complex. I loved learning about West's past and why he was the way he is. They had such amazing chemistry. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book.

When I first started Deeper it reminded me of another book I had read, but I was glad to discover it was different. Caroline was different,as was West.

Caroline is a smart rich girl with dreams of being a lawyer. One big mistake with someone she thought loved her changes everything. She made the mistake a lot of girls do. She let sexy pictures with her boyfriend be taken. When she breaks up with him those pictures become public. What I loved about Caroline is that she didn't just sit there she did try to remove them herself. But her reputation is ruined.everyone has seen the pictures. Including West.

West is the opposite of Caroline. He's poor,a fighter, and a drug dealer. But underneath his drug dealer, carefree disguise is a good guy. He was just dealt a shitty hand. He's seen the pictures, but that doesn't stop him from wanting to protect Caroline. They aren't even friends, they don't even speak to one another.
West defends Caroline and she goes to confront him. To tell him to leave it alone. They decide to not be friends but that is.how their friendship begins. In a bakery at night learning how to bake bread.

Soon it of course turns into more not matter how much they try to fight it. I was happy with how their relationship developed. It wasn't rushed, things went at a normal pace. West helped Caroline realize those pictures don't define who she is. They aren't her. They were just a mistake that anyone could make. I liked how their relationship brought out the best in each other. After all that is what a relationship is supposed to do. Not to mention the chemistry between them is off thr charts. I loved the slow build of things between them. It was steamy but still beautiful in my opinion. Im not happy with the way things were left, but I know it may not be the end. I understand why things happened the way they did. Solid 4.5 stars.

3.5 STARS.....I really loved this book it was well written and has a unique storyline. I fell in love with the characters. I thought there love story started out a little to slow but became very sweet, funny, beautiful and extremely emotional. I just wished for more romance. There love for each other was beautiful and strong. I cried so much at the end. I felt like it was more of a young adult contemporary due to college ages. So maybe it would be better suited for a younger audience. I must say though due to the uniqueness of the plot/storyline this is a memorable book. Please note that this is the first book of Caroline and West the second is Harder.

I was ecstatic when this book showed up in my mailbox for me to review. Not only is the cover so pretty, but the story sounded like it would be full of some pretty intense emotions and a complex relationship that would take a lot of struggle to make work. When Caroline breaks up with her boyfriend of three years, he takes revenge by posting their sex pictures all over the internet. Caroline has always been the good girl, striving to be judge and make her dad proud. But she can't do that when with those pictures out there for everyone to see. Caroline does all she can to make them disappear, all the while feeling more and more ashamed of every aspect about herself. When she finds West beating up her ex-boyfriend because of what he did, Caroline doesn't know what to do. West is the last person she should be letting into her life when it's crumbling down. As the cocky bad boy who has loved to toy with her since the moment they met, Caroline doesn't need him messing with her mind. But as they spend more time together, Caroline sees past the confident facade and realizes there's a lot more to him. Caroline and West's relationship grows stronger and more complicated as the months pass, and Caroline has to realize those pictures don't define her and knows she has to learn how to live life again. Dealing with such a serious topic, I didn't know how this story would play out. I mean, how could a girl deal with her ex-boyfriend posting naked pictures of her for everyone to see? The emotional turmoil Caroline has to go through is so heartbreaking, and I can definitely see how she has no idea how to deal with a guy like West at that moment of her life. Oh, but how perfect West is. Okay, so he's not perfect. But he's so imperfectly perfect that you fall head over heels in love with him. Yeah, he's a player who deals some drugs and likes to play with Caroline, but he is so much more than that. West is such an amazing guy, and he is way too sweet to Caroline when he let's himself actually feel for once. And all of those nights West spends teaching Caroline how to bake different breads at the bakery? Please excuse me while I swoon over him for the millionth time. I definitely have a new book crush on that guy! This book is such an emotional roller coaster and takes you through the ugly emotions, the passionate moments, and the sweet, adorable moments of Caroline and West's relationship. I loved how both Caroline and West grew individually after spending so much time together, and how they changed each other's lives so much. Also, the way their relationship unfolds is definitely unique, and I really appreciated how they had a long history of knowing there was chemistry there, but avoided it until West finally pushed Caroline's buttons too far to ignore. Their emotions felt so real and I could not help but devour every twist and turn in their relationship. What am I trying to say here? Well, simply put, I loved Deeper. There is so much chemistry and passion between Caroline and West, but their relationship is so much more than their physical attraction for each other. Dealing with serious, real life issues with the most perfectly flawed characters, Deeper gives you a New Adult romance you will obsess over until the very last page.

I received the second book in this series, Harder (Lord, I hate these titles) in a LibraryThing Early Readers giveaway, got 30 pages in, and realized it could not be fathomed without reading the first in the series. It took me some time, but I finally picked this up, and it turned out I liked it a lot. This is definitely aimed at the "New Adult" demo, but the story ended up being relatable even to old lady me. I remember the intensity of first love, and this really captured it. It also presented a strong, capable, interesting female lead, who was still allowed to be overwhelmed and to need and accept support. So often in romance if a woman is strong she is cold and humorless, and those two things are not necessarily (or even commonly) found together. Also, if strong women in these books do have moments of needing to lean on their men it is that which is portrayed as making them "feminine" but here Carolyn's appeal is in her strength. Another romance trope, the bad boy who is lauded for his aggression, is avoided here. West does act out, and we understand why, but its clear its the wrong thing to do, and he knows it. I liked Carolyn and I was pissed at the situation she found herself in. I sympathized with West, and wished he would make better decisions, but understood why he made the decisions he did. Together I thought they were sweet and funny and charming and sexy. I don't want to give up much of the plot, but I think most contemporary romance lovers will really enjoy this. I am looking forward to reading Harder now that I have context.

I absolutely adored this book. The characters are deep and gut wrenching at times, and will stay with me for a long time. West trying to dig deep and make a better life for himself and hopefully help his sister. Caroline struggling to make it through the darkest part of her life. Together they can handle anything. Until that terrible day when they are no longer together. I can't wait for the next book....I need them to have their HEA plese!! I highly recommend this one. One of the best NA books I've read.

This was a great story with a female character that grows into a strong woman and leader. It did start to drag about 1/3 in but knowing this author I read on and was rewarded with a blossoming relationship. (That slow part seems to be the hint this author frequently gives right before the action starts.)

I really like Ms. York's portrayal of Caroline as she learns to be strong and stand on her feet again and lead the charge against the bad guy.

And I'm thrilled to see this book is first in a series called "Caroline & West" because I'd hate to see this relationship end with the close of this book. I want more, please!

Liked West not as much love for Caroline. I found myself skimming ahead many times and felt the story was more about her internet porn victim situation than a relationship with West. There isn't so much a cliffhanger as an unfinished story. So many unanswered questions and the feeling of no return on time invested in reading this. Not sure I will come back for more.

LOVED this book. Robin York did an amazing job getting into the head of both Caroline and West and really making you feel everything they were. Even when you were screaming at them (in your head, of course. Um, mostly) to do something different from what they were doing, you got why they were doing it.I am so glad that when I was a teenager/college student there was no Internet or smartphones with cameras? The idea of revenge porn is horrific and terrifying, and I can't even imagine having to deal with the concept let alone the reality. Kudos to Robin for tackling such an intense subject and doing such a fantastic job with it. My heart was breaking for Caroline, at the same time I wanted to pound her ex into a bloody, pulpy mess.Hmm. Kind of like West did....Anyway.There isn't a solid resolution here--book two, Deeper is coming out in July, but I was fairly content with how this one ended. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I am a fan of the HEA is general, but these two characters are nowhere near ready for that. As they stand in this one, they both have way too much to work out and figure out on their own and in their own lives before they can even think of being together. That said--JULY? WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR JULY??? Sigh....Tissue alert--I was near sobbing at the end. You have been warned.5 stars/ A rating.I received an ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

I had mixed feelings on the book Deeper. For the most part I enjoyed it. The story was good but I thought it was a little slow. It wasn't one that I couldn't put down. However, I did like both Caroline and West. I also was invested enough that I wanted to know how it ended. The story showed that you have to be careful who you trust. I very much wanted to see how Caroline dealt with the betrayal of her ex boyfriend.

Revenge Porn. Up until a month ago I had never even heard of it until I saw a short feature on an HBO news program. It is a terrible and horrifying subject and this book brings major awareness and does justice to the depravity the victims face. I commend the author. This book is not for the faint of heart, and in addition to the revenge porn topic there are intense graphic sex (consensual) scenes.

I could have given this book 5 stars except that there are places in the story that I just don't feel are reasonable when it comes to Caroline, particularly several instance of PDA (public displays of affection)and behaviors that don't seem consistent with the trauma she went through. She's a fighter though and overlooking those things (which of course are just my opinion,)I think this is an invaluable story. Personally, I think it would have been more effective and suitable for a wider audience without the added sex but this it the story the author wanted to tell. Obviously victims of revenge porn have lives and don't give up sex for the remainder of their lives, so I am ok with it. I recommend this book to anyone interested in women's issues and has an open mind.

Robin York’s Deeper falls into the genre called New Adult (NA). NA (also known as Upper YA, Crossover Fiction, and Mature YA) deals with issues common among young adults between the ages of 18-25. It’s this young adult audience that Deeper focuses on with its NA themes of college life, living on one’s own for the first time, creating one’s own identity, and engaging in one’s first serious romance. In addition to those themes, York involves the current issue of technology and its dark side with Caroline’s ex-boyfriend Nate, posting their intimate pictures on the internet and the social fall-out that follows. However, what will probably appeal to this crowd the most is Deeper’s intense romance between Caroline and West and resulting steamy sex scenes.I admit that if I was part of the younger crowd, I probably would have liked Deeper overall. Instead, I found Caroline and West to be melodramatic. I grew impatient with each character’s internal angst over their relationship status with each other. At a certain point, I just didn’t understand what the big deal was all about. Caroline’s issues revolve around the intimate photos Nate posted of her online. Having such photos posted on the internet can effect job, scholarship, and internship opportunities and that issue plays a big role in Deeper. York presents that problem well, but I found Caroline’s constant mental battle with what imaginary men think of her tiresome. Until I got to almost the end of the book, I did not understand how dysfunctional Caroline’s relationship with Nate had been. Caroline’s ongoing struggle with how she thinks men see her (or how some men do see her) would have made more sense to me if York had explored Caroline’s unhealthy relationship with Nate more in depth and closer to the beginning of the book.Similarly, I found West’s actions toward Caroline mystifying. I didn’t understand West’s motivations until (again) close to the end of the book. To not understand a character’s motivations until the end of the book is frustrating to a reader—at least this reader, anyway. Even with the chapters that York wrote from West’s point of view, I didn’t understand West until close to the end. It’s almost like the actual story doesn’t start until just before page 250 (give or take).I didn’t like Robin York’s Deeper, but I think readers ages 18-25 will like the book. College folk will enjoy the book’s racy scenes and its focus on romance and probably not care so much about the scattered plot structure. To each, his or her own.
