    Ex-drummer, Ex-software author and Ex-flares wearer Michael White was born and lives in the northwest of England. In a previous life he was the author of many text adventure games that were popular in the early 1980's. Realising that the creation of these games was in itself a form of writing he has since made the move into self-publishing, resulting in many short stories and novellas. Covering an eclectic range of subjects the stories fall increasingly into that "difficult to categorise" genre, causing on-going headaches for the marketing department of his one man publishing company, Eighth Day Publishing.Having accidentally sacked his marketing director (himself) three times in the last two years, he has now retired to a nice comfortable room where, if he behaves himself, they leave him to write in peace.In his spare time (!)       Enjoyable, fast-paced thriller/mystery, one of the better in Patterson's PRIVATE series. (I gave it 3 1/2 *s of 5 in order to better differentiate my very top recommendations from books which are good, but I doubt will "stay with me" and on my mind for a lifetime.)As with almost all of Patterson's books I've read to date, this was what I think most would call a "great beach read" - very entertaining and action-filled, didn't require a lot of thought or attention to follow, and written such that one could read the book quickly without losing any deeper meaning or literary artistry. With this type of book, to use a cliche, "what you see is what you get".I enjoyed this book, and appreciated the details unique to Australia (references to locations, commonly used expressions/slang, etc.), but as a lover of books, audiobooks, and literature, I wouldn't make this the majority of my literary diet. A satisfying snack, perhaps. One which I will indulge in again, without doubt.

      I think I really only like the books in this series when Jack Morgan makes appearances. Although I do like the characters that are introduced in the other Private agencies they certainly are not enough to bump up my rating. I found the three story lines to be confusing. Entangled in all that are the side stories of the different characters. Very hard to keep track of what is going on.

      Jack Morgan opens an office in Sydney Australia. Craig Gitso is the head of the office. At the celebration of the offices opening, a young dying Asian man, bleeding from several wounds, stumbles into the gathering. This will be Private Sydney's first case. But things go from bad to worse in a hurry as a serial killer strikes in in the wealthy suburbs and a rock star believes his manager is out to kill him. Can Private solve these cases and put the citizens at ease??

      Private Down Under is another great read in the series. This time Justine travels from the LA office to the launch of the Sydney office. I like the way James Patterson brings in a character that you already know and then introduces you to a host of new ones! Craig, the Sydney boss has a good back story and an interesting relationship with the police!In keeping with the other Private novels, this one is fast paced, with a few different plot lines going on. Sometimes I have to remind myself who the different characters are, there are so many. But the short chapters and lots of twists and turns keep my interest and keep the plot lines moving. I love these books - looking forward to the next one 'Private LA' - out in January I think.

      At first I thought "oh no it's going to be just like the rest" but as the book developed it got better and better. The pace is fast, the storyline varied and a happy ending! I did enjoy it but would question some of the chapter breaks - somewhat too frequent.

      This is the last book that I am going to read of this series. I'll continue to read Women's Murder Club and Alex Cross books - they remain well written and interesting. The Private series just keeps getting worse. Not sure who is writing it but it isn't up to normal JP standards. Kept hoping that it would get better but it never did. Very disappointing.

      The first volume in the Private series, "Private," involved multiple, unrelated cases which portrayed the ostensibly elite agency as a high demand service. Subsequent books focused on few, more expansive, cases. Private Down Under brings back the vibe of the first book, with three concurrent cases: a serial killer, killing and abduction by the Chinese mob, and protection of an Australian rock star, convinced he is being setup to join "Club 27", the so-called group of musicians who all met their end at that magic age. Unlike the other Private books, or Patterson books in general, was the graphic detail in which some of the killings were described. I found it uncharacteristically brutal, others might find it disturbing. The outcomes are all successful for the new branch of this global agency. I wonder if and when Patterson might revisit any of the locations and characters he has created in the course of this series.

      Exciting, fast moving story of start up of a new "Private" detective agency in Australia. Several mysteries being investigated at a time including a serial killer who morbidly kills rich good looking women, a Chinese gang taking a former policeman's sons, and a famous singer someone is trying to kill. The Agency is very high tech and ahead of the police in most of the investigations

      New office of Private, where several crimes need to be solved during the first week of operation. 1 - drug war where a young man is killed in hope of getting to his father, 2 - a rock star convinced he is being targeted to die on his 27th birthday, and 3 - wealthy women are being murdered.

      OK. Another Patterson that was just ok. LOTS of violence... was it necessary? Maybe not so graphic. Better than "Burn" (which was SUCH a disappointment!)
