About this audiobook

“Any time you see Melinda Leigh’s name on a book cover, you know you’re in for a sexy, sinister, twist-ridden read.” —USA Today

Curator Dr. Louisa Hancock left behind Maine and her troubled past for Philadelphia and a job at a prominent museum. Just when it seems that Louisa’s new life is safe from her dark secrets, the body of a museum intern is found—the victim of a brutal and baffling murder.

Louisa realizes this is no random crime. And when another intern goes missing, the abduction is linked to the only man who has ever tempted Louisa’s heart—Conor Sullivan, the owner of a Philly sports bar. Louisa’s past has taught her to be wary, but her heart refuses to believe Conor is guilty.

Now Conor and Louisa must dodge a police investigation as they race to find the real killer before another girl turns up dead. In their darkest hour, they find themselves drawn to each other. But trusting Conor could be deadly, especially as the evidence against him mounts…and as a merciless killer targets Louisa as the next victim.

Melinda Leigh

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh is a fully recovered banker. A lifelong lover of books, she started writing as a way to preserve her sanity when her youngest child entered first grade. During the next few years, she joined Romance Writers of America, learned a few things about writing a book, and decided the process was way more fun than analyzing financial statements. Melinda’s debut novel, She Can Run, was nominated for Best First Novel by the International Thriller Writers. Melinda’s bestselling books have garnered three Daphne du Maurier Award nominations and a Golden Leaf Award. When she isn’t writing, she is an avid martial artist: she holds a second-degree black belt in Kenpo karate and teaches women’s self-defense. She lives in a messy house with her husband, two teenagers, a couple of dogs, and two rescue cats.

Wow! Did not expect the ending. Brilliant book, I loved it

The story was good, but the narrator made it a tough listen. When men try to speak for female characters, it comes across as too harsh. All of the male characters were way too harsh as well. With a different narrator I'd give it a 5

Given it a 3 but I think mainly because of the narrator. So many times throughout the book did I find myself thinking:"That is NOT how you should intone this sentence", completely the oposite of what it was suggesting. Felt like the narrator was mad that he had to do this. Other than that, I liked that there was no unneccessary descriptions or wanderings in between different scenes just to fill out the time gap. Would have just preffered the book was a bit humorous as well. Apart from the playfullness between the main characters a few times, there wasn't much, if anything at all, to smile or laugh at. Defintely a 3, now that I concluded all this.

Louisa is in a bit of a bind. After losing her last museum job in Maine following a theft and being involved in solving a string of murders and kidnappings, she has relocated to Philadelpia and a new curator job. The problem is that Conor Sullivan, the hunky guy she met in Maine, live in Philadelphia and Louisa is not sure she can stay away from him. Now female interns are going missing from the museum, and it looks like Louisa and Conor are going to be thrown together again, whether they like it or not. This third book in the series is as much fun as the others. It is sometimes hard to buy these older people being so bad at relationships, but I really enjoyed the mystery and there is an adorable dog in the story. We also get to catch up with the Sullivans from the first two books, that was fun. That was all the single Sullivans but I have heard there is another book coming. I would enjoy another visit with this family.
