Об этой аудиокниге

The Invisible Man (1897) is one of the most famous science fiction novels of all time. Written by H.G. Wells (1866-1946), it tells the story of a scientist who discovers the secret of invisibility and uses it on himself. The story begins as the Invisible Man, with a bandaged face and a heavy coat and gloves, takes a train to lodge in a country inn whilst he tries to discover the antidote and make himself visible again. The book inspired several films and is notable for its vivid descriptions of the invisible man--no mean feat, given that you can't see him!

H. G. Wells

The son of a professional cricketer and a lady’s maid, H. G. Wells (1866–1946) served apprenticeships as a draper and a chemist’s assistant before winning a scholarship to the prestigious Normal School of Science in London. While he is best remembered for his groundbreaking science fiction novels, including The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, and The Island of Doctor Moreau, Wells also wrote extensively on politics and social matters and was one of the foremost public intellectuals of his day.

This book was not entertaining. There were parts of great intrigue and action, but most of it was a boring slog. And everyone was a completely useless fighter until the very end when the plot was finishing up. The person who did the audiobook was a bit amateurish and unpolished, but I found it to be perfectly acceptable.

A really fascinating perspective on what so many individuals fantasize of—being invisible. The commentary and narration is phenomenal.

probably actually a really great book. this public domain version was painful to listen to. the only reason I didn't give it one star was for the potential for a great book. note: if you want to listen to a classic that should be rated four stars, don't listen to a public domain version
