About this audiobook

Best-selling author Michael Farquhar is a writer and editor for The Washington Post. A Treasury of Deception is a tongue-in-cheek commemoration of those who attempted to pull off the greatest scams. Conmen, tricksters, charlatans, impostors, and downright liars seeking wealth, 15 minutes of fame, or the alleviation of blame rely upon the maxim that "there's a sucker born every minute." "A Treasury of Deception is a zestful, gossipy exposE-and celebration-of mendacity."-Booklist

Exactly what it says on the cover. I think the book would have benefited from a tighter focus, or an overall arc. Instead, it bounces between a variety of lies, scams, hoaxes, and tricks without any dramatic pressure or overarching ideas.

    Entertaining, but shallow.
