About this audiobook
Moses Lake was a constant place, on the surface. But you can’t always tell by looking, what might be brewing underneath. …
After surviving the worst year of her life, Andrea Henderson moves home to sleepy little Moses Lake, Texas, to recover her shattered faith and build a new life for herself and her son.
Game Warden Mart McClendon finds himself in Moses Lake for a different reason: to forget a tragedy for which he can’t forgive himself.
But when a mysterious little girl is suddenly seen with the town recluse, these two unlikely allies are drawn together in a search for her identity. As wounded pasts collide, will their quest bring the redemption and hope they need—or consequences neither of them expected?
“After reading Larkspur Cove, I wanted to pack and move to Moses Lake. Highly recommended!”—Colleen Coble, author of The Lightkeeper’s Daughter

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The readers really make this book come to life! Such a wonderful story that carries you away ...
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A book that seemed like a true story, instead of a work of fiction. The characters and the town seemed very real. About people who had some tough problems to overcome and about how you shouldn't judge a person by their cover, because down deep, they could be doing the best they can with what they have. (I also liked the way the author took each chapter and gave you Andrea Henderson's side of the story and then in the next chapter you got Mart McClendon's view of things.)Andrea has just moved to the sleepy little town of Moses Lake, Texas, to try to begin life over again with her 14 year old son after her husband left her for another woman. Game Warden Mart is also fairly new to the town, moving to try to forget a tragedy that occurred in his life with the loss of his brother and nephew. These two people will slowly end up working together when a mysterious little girl is seen with the town recluse. What is the background of this little girl and is she truly safe where she is living? You will really get to know these folks and feel like you are in the town with them, cheering them on. I was fully in to this story and thought the author did a great job of ending this story and helped to resolve some difficult situations in these people's lives.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Lisa Wingate is always good for an enjoyable read, and she doesn't disappoint with this romance that throws in a few elements of suspense. Andrea--a recently divorced mother who has moved beck to Moses lake to work as a Social Worker and live in her parents lake house with her son Dustin meets Mart--the local game warden who has some painful past secrets that he doesn't want to confront, at least not when the book starts. As Andrea and Mart get to know each other--they meet after Dustin gets picked up by Matt for horsing around with the wrong crowd out on the lake--they are intrigued by the mysterious appearances of a young girl who appears to be with the local recluse. I enjoyed the community of Larkspur Cove, the suspense of what was going on with the little girl, and some aspects of Andrea and Mart and their relationship. The story was told in alternating points of view between the two of them. I felt that the author could have gone a little deeper with their characters (or maybe they were just being shallow in their own thoughts and avoiding their own issues). Andrea was dealing with a recent divorce where her husband (a minister) left her for another woman and Mart's beloved nephew had passed away in an accident that he blamed himself for. This set them up to be characters that needed a lot of emotional healing (which made me question the wisdom of them getting involved with each other) and while there is some growth and healing it was not gone into in depth. For fans of romance and romantic suspense who don't get into analyzing it too much this would be a wonderful read.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I hate to give this just two stars. I first started reading it based on a recommendation. But I was bored and I finally finished it, but it took forever. Honestly, I have no great objections to this book. I can see how some people would really enjoy it. But it definitely was not my style of book. And I can only rate a book based on my enjoyment of it.Like the cove itself, Larkspur Cove is one of those slow, meandering type of books that doesn't go anywhere very fast. A romance slowly blossoms. A mild mystery develops. A few people grow and learn more about themselves... hmmm... that pretty much sums it up.
