About this audiobook

The first Betsy Taylor, Vampire Queen novel.

It’s been a hell of a week for Betsy Taylor. First, she loses her job. Then, she’s killed in a car accident. But what really bites (besides waking up in the morgue dressed in a pink suit and cheap shoes courtesy of her stepmother) is that she can’t seem to stay dead. Every night she rises, with a horrible craving for blood.

And she’s not taking too well to a liquid diet. Worst of all, Betsy’s new friends have some silly idea that she’s the prophesied vampire queen.

Fun easy read, one of the best chick-lit books I read back then.

A little silly but funny and cute. This is my 2nd time reading this series.

This book was a pleasure to read, it tells the tale of Betsy who dies and comes back as a vampire, she has problems with drinking blood, and most things that harm other vamps don't seem to have any effect on her. Betsy is a sassy, 6 feet tall, blond haired ex-model, who loves a good cat fight and really does not like to be told what to do.It appears that she is the long foretold Queen of the undead, but Betsy really does not want to be, not that the other Vampires intend to let her live her death in peace. The problem is though, she has a very deep well of tenderness that means she cannot turn her back, and unlimited access to the latest designer shoe collection helps too.I found myself laughing out loud as I was reading and I definitely intend to read the other books in this series. A very easy read with a steamy sex scene or two, marvellous dialogue, well drawn characters and a chuckle factor that is off the scale.

I've read all the Betsy books and really enjoyed them. I think they're just the right amount of fluffy ridiculousness. I was thrilled to see them on audio. The narrator does a good job, but the production is lacking. Rustling pages, background noise, areas where the recording obviously should have had another take, all of it was distracting and sounded like an amateur production. I really expected more. I will listen to the others because I like the books so much, I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope the production values get better. So, book 5 stars, one off for production values

I was actually reeeeally embarrassed when I first checked this book out from the library. Chick lit/paranormal romance isn't really my thing. But in all honesty, I'm am so glad I did. MaryJanice Davidson is hysterical! I laughed my butt off throughout the entire book.

Undead and Unwed is a satire of all the vampire paranormal romances saturating today's bookstore, and yet you really care about the hopelessly shallow main character, Betsy. She even managed to make me care about shoes and that's definitely a feat (pun possibly intended).

Ok, so everyone needs mind-candy every now and then. After you read heavy-hitters like House of Leaves or The Lord of the Rings, where your brain has to work overtime, you need something that's fun and a little embarrassing... something like chicklit+romance novel+vampires. This, my friends, is that novel.Betsy Taylor is a Minneapolis ex-model turned secretary with a fierce fetish for designer shoes, but she's having a pretty rotten day- she got fired, and then she actually died... and to make matters worse, her hated step-mother stole her shoes and dressed her in knock-offs to be buried! So yeah, it turns out, she's a vampire, which she's not to keen on. For one thing, it appears that vampires have no style and no sense of humor, which she simply can't abide. And then there's the whole drinking blood thing. Throw in a tacky Dracula knock off and a smoldering, dark, handsome Rebel vampire, lots of graphic sex, spunky sidekicks and a prophecy, and you've got about 2 hours of reading amusement. (well, I speed read, so it might take someone else a day.) But anyway, it's a nice way to let your brain rest. It's a guilty pleasure, but a pleasure nonetheless.

MJ is just so bloody hilarious. If you ever need a pick me up, pick her books. Unless you are a stone robot her stuff shouldn't fail to give you a lot of lols or at the very least some wide grinning :D
This review covers most of her books in my opinion. I would however say that when it come to the romance- or should I say physical side of things she does tend to lay it out heavy. I completely skip her more um..shall we say erotic stuff. Hilarious as she is, I do have a line!
If you like Betsy series definitely check out the Alaskan Royals trilogy, & the Fred trilogy.

I did not expect to laugh this hard or to like this book. Reminds me of the great Jennifer Crusie but doesn't quite have the depth. Who cares? It's super fun if you like shoes and vampires and pure unadulterated silliness.

What a funny book, this is a 4 9/10 star book at the least, the only reason I took a star away because I thought the sex scenes intruded on the storyline, not every scene but enough that I wished they were cut back on. The high point of the author's novel for me is her characters and their dialogue.

Saved my day really. This book was so funny and still full of action and romance and hot men that it cannot be anything else than perfect. I loved it. It was so amazing and I loved Betsy's attitude towards everything happening to her. Also no one sane cannot say that Eric wasn't hot :) Can't wait to read the next book in the series

I had read the second book in this series a while ago, so I knew what I was walking into (sort of). I only remembered that the book was hilarious and that Betsy is a shoe nutcase :P

So I loved this one. I thought it was hilarious in the first chapter when she has such a bad day that ends up with her dead. She gets laid off, her cat runs away (again) and has the day end with her cat luring her to her death.

She's the foretold queen... meaning she can go in sunlight, say god without flinching, wear a cross, and doesn't burn up in holy water. There are two vampires that have been ruling for decades plus. The one doesn't believe that Betsy is the queen, and the other does. The one who does is Eric Sinclair, and boy, he is SEX-TACULAR... :P Just going to leave that at that.

I would recommend this to people, because it IS funny.

I don’t know that I’ve read a vampire book since Twilight, but this one was entertaining (with a more traditional portrayal of vampires). Betsy keeps the narration light and humorous as she details all the changes being dead causes in her life, and I enjoyed it.

When I read this book, I can't stop laughing. The story take you from the furst page and don't let you go till you have read the last word on the last page. The main characters made me in love with the so quickly, that I read the first ten books for about four days. So I recommend this book to everyone that likes great stories about vampires with a good amount of sarcasm.

The main character, Betsy, is a newly created vampire who doesn't get hung up on all of the old vampire traditions. She is fun, irreverant and totally entertaining. I will be reading more in the Queen Betsy series.

LOL funny ! I love the characters ! I just chuckled through the whole book. Betsy the main character is so realistic,so vocal. She says loudly what some of us (me) only think about. I think I may have found some great lines to use in the future too !

Actual rating 2.5/5. This book wasn't that bad but it just wasn't my cup of tea either. While some parts of it were mildly entertaining, most of it almost made me feel embarrassed to read it. Actually I should just flat out say I was. This was a book I didn't bring out in public with me. After I finished the Twilight series, one of my sister-in-laws gave this to me as a hand-me-down recommendation. From her mom, to her, to me. And that's where I stop this train. It's kind of like a Sex in the City meets vampires minus the clever writing.

Vampire chick-lit at its very, very best. Outrageous story, eccentric characters, a cuddly kooky heroine, and a constant stream of sparkling verbal and visual humour.

Betsy Taylor is mugged by a bunch of hairy critters outside a Mongolian restaurant and sustains some scratches. Two months and one job later, she’s hit by a garbage truck and hurled against a tree. Crushed skull — R.I.P. Betsy. Sometime later she wakes up inside a casket, mysteriously undead. And undead she remains even though she tries to finish off what the garbage truck started by jumping off buildings and bridges, impaling herself on knives, drinking bleach and electrocuting herself.

The pompous boss of the local vampire clan wants to welcome her into his fold, but Betsy tells him to get lost, and in her anger demonstrates some surprising talents such as immunity to crosses, holy water, and sunshine. Oh, and the strength to hurl macho vampires across mausoleum floors.

A cute lesbian vampire reveals that Betsy seems to be fulfilling an ancient prophesy about an ass-kicking vampire queen who will appear and rule the world of the undead with her drop-dead handsome consort.

The publisher’s blurb and trade reviews go on to summarise far more of the story, but I enjoyed this book so much that I’ll leave the rest for readers with tastes similar to mine.

Yet again, I find myself discovering a writer who’s already earned the NYT Bestselling Author cachet. Shame on me, but better late than never. There are more volumes in the Undead series, of which this is the first, and apparently Ms Davidson does other genres as well.

Lots of great reading to look forward to.

Well I seem to be on binge of reading series and vampires. I bought this book because the cover interested me along with the title.Undead and Unwed was a funny book. I found myself laughing or cracking a smile while reading. Elizabeth Taylor or Betsy as she likes to be called gets hit by a car saving her cat one night and wakes up in the funeral home wondering what happened. Once she finally figures out what happened she sees her father and stepmom then visits her mother. Her best friend is thrilled to see her up and walking even if she is a vampire. The abilities that she has make her a very unique vampire and the possible Queen. This book would probably still be sitting on my TBR pile if not for the SOS Bingo game. I look forward to reading the next books in this series.

I have the same feeling re-reading this. It was very fun and funny but totally inane. I totally cannot relate to Betsy but find her very hilarious. There is definitely sex in the book but it is not a romance. Sex spoiler has bad words. Betsy has a orgasmic vampire experience with one of her human friends, gets a gay guy so hot he jacks off in front of her, watches while a vampire has sex with 3 human women, feeds from the first guy while he fucks the lesbian vampire friend, and then for the finale fucks the vampire who had been screwing the 3 women before. Lots of sex but no real emotion.

Mainly the book is about Betsy coming to terms with being a very strange vampire. It starts strange from her getting hit by a car (not being sucked dry) and then waking up thinking she is a zombie. It really is funny. Still it is an indulgence and feels a little like we partied all night.

I was fully prepared to have another mindless dimwitted twit rambling on about her silly life and how she hated being dead, needed to get laid blah blah blah. They seem to go with the Genre these days.

Instead I found a strong funny character who made me laugh and want to read the next page. I'm sorry I put off picking up this book for so long because of all the lousy writers in this genre.

The main character is strong. Yes Betsy has her faults but she does it in proportion to life and they aren't all consuming nor does she drone on mindlessly about them. When push comes to shove, she shoves right back. Even when she's being a twit you know it won't last long and she'll get on with "living" if you pardon the expression.

I was really surprised. MaryJanice Davidson knows how to write.

My only complaint was the books weren't long enough.

What is the book about? Betsy Taylor (Elizabeth Taylor) has jut become a vampire after being hit by a car and she's not afraid to tell anyone who will listen to her. After waking up in a morgue she quickly goes to rescue her Jimmy Choo's at her evil Step mother's house. After breaking her news to her best friend Jessica and her Mother she is given all the support she needs to continue living "undead.Eric Sinclair has introduced himself and informed her that she is destined to do great things. He even tries to bribe her with fancy designer shoes. She quickly learns that she is not like the usual vampire. Sneezing in the face of anyone who throws holy water at her and laughing at the evil Nostro she has drawn lots of attention to herself. What did I think of the book? The book is so witty and funny I couldn't put it down. I was literally laughing while reading this book. Mary Janice Davidson knows exactly how to appeal to her readers!
