About this audiobook

Felipe de Castro, the vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town. It's the worst possible time for a human body to show up in Eric Northman's front yard-especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank. Now it's up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl's fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who's set out to make Sookie's world come crashing down.

I have throughly enjoyed all of these books, they are cute, witty, action packed, & reveal many southern truths.

I really enjoyed this book. As always Sookie and her gang were a blast.

As always, Harris delivers a solid read. The murder mystery was still not as great as many of the earlier novels in the series, but it was an improvement from the last one. I get the feeling that the author is trying to make us dislike Eric in an attempt to make the readers happy when Sookie ends up with someone like Sam. I don't know if that's who she'll end up with, but I'd be highly disappointed if that does happen. He's just so boring. I want Sookie to have a special purpose and I'm worried she'll just end up as a quirky house wife who can read minds. That would be a downer. Anyway, if you've come this far in the series, I doubt you'll hesitate to read this one. And it was enjoyable. It just wasn't as great as it could have been. There's only one book left and I feel like she's taking some easy ways out at resolving some of these conflicts. Like with the fae.

Love this series, and this was better than the last couple of outings. Can't wait to see where it goes in the next book, as there are a few possibilities opening up by the end of this one.

Loved the story but this copy had jump marks all over like a skipped record. Disappointing

I am thoroughly over Sookie Stackhouse. I really couldn't care less at this point what happens to her because, the ending to her story is long overdue. The first 230 pages of this book are drivel; nothing happens. (Okay, so one thing happens in Chapter 3; page 57 if you're skimming) Sookie just goes to work and cooks and ponders her questionable choices in life. Occasionally something mildly interesting, but mostly just "meh," happens, and she just goes on and on about it. Then finally, at the end of chapter 10 (around page 225) something happens. From that point on, there's a pretty consistent amount of action, but it's not edge of your seat riveting or anything. Some issues are put to bed, loose ends tied up nice and tidy; but one or two things are still left up in the air, waiting to be addressed in the next (and hopefully final) book. Also, there is no sex; only innuendo and awkwardness, if that's the kind of thing you concern yourself with.

I really just want it to end! If Sookie dies, great. If she becomes a vampire, fine. If she has twenty babies by twenty different wereanimals... stellar. Just end it, please!

FYI: I'm rounding this up, by the way. 2.5 is more accurate.

Was not as good as the other books, just like the other reviews say. It was kind of boring and the plot was weak af but I had to read it since I've invested so much time into this series. Will read the next one because it's the last one.

Another super-quick read by Harris, this is the 12th in the interminable Sookie Stackhouse series of books. Frankly forgettable, Harris is phoning it in at this point and enjoying her residuals off the True Blood television series. Not worth the bother, unless you're a die-hard Sookie Stackhouse fan.

Having watched friends and loved ones marry, have children, and lead reasonably normal lives, at least for the most part, Sookie has often wondered what it would be like to have those things for herself. Yes, technically she is married to Eric, but a marriage to a vampire is not exactly legal, nor ideal when you only get to see your husband for a few hours a couple of nights a week. Not too mention the added stress of a vampire Queen out to claim your husband for her own. But, as always, Sookie has other matters to tend to. Eric has been framed for a murder she is not entirely sure he is innocent off, having caught him feeding from the victim only minutes before her murdered body was found. The fae left behind on this side are becoming increasingly restless and dangerous, not just to each other but the wider population. There are also complications with the weres, or at least one were in particular who would like to see the end of Sookie. Then there is the cluviel dor.Deadlocked sees Sookie trapped between a rock and a hard place. While it is true the fae cannot lie that does not mean they cannot deceive and being family the betrayal will cut deep. Meanwhile her relationship with Eric is strained at best and while both are looking to the other for an act that will prove their love, neither are willing to act themselves. However the sacrifice Sookie makes for love is not the one anyone would have expected and despite how much she cares, in the end love will break her heart.

Much better than the previous book. It felt like it built up for a "finale" book exactly the way you would want to. There was lots of action, while still maintaining the plot and staying true to the character.

If it weren't for Harris giving her readers a nice little wrap up at the very end of the book, I'd have thought nothing major had happened. She gives a nice little tl;dr wrap up in the last few pages. Probably my least favorite of all. Makes me a little concerned about the grand finale - the 13th and final book in 2013.

While this book was an improvement from the last two, it was still boring. Half the time is spent explaining events or characters from previous books (at least she finally stopped explaining that Sookie can't hear vampires) and the other half is Sookie being pissed off and broody. She expects Eric to choose her and show his undying love for her, yet she is unwilling to give him a call? And every time she sees him she ends up walking out or sending him on his way. Was she really surprised when he wanted her to make the bold gesture of love? Eric deserved an actual send off and an actual conversation with Sookie. Harris did him dirty and I can't forgive that because he has become such a constant character in the books. Jannalynn got a better ending than our boy Eric, and that is simply wrong.Honestly because the last two books were so slow and this one was so frustratingly boring (until the end), I don't want to read the next book. I wish that I would have saved myself some time and only read up until book 6 and then just read summaries of the rest. Finally, I believe that Claude is the villian. What I don't believe is that he was hoping to use Eric to draw out Niall. Why would he bank on those odds? It doesn't really make sense to leave so many things up to chance. If he wanted to fight Niall and get him to come to the human dimension, I doubt this was the most efficient way of doing so. Also, you're telling me that he couldn't have found the fairy love wish? It was sitting in her makeup drawer the whole time. If he actually searched her room he would have found it.

Again, I think I enjoy these books now mostly because of the audiobook format, and also because the precision and neatness of Sookie's day to day life fulfills some sort of OCD need on my part. Prediction: Eric's implication about how Sookie might be able to solve the issue of their relationship and the betrothal to Freida is that she could become a vampire; not that he expected her to use her magic fae trinket. Only time will tell, though!

I'm disappointed in this book. I know the author is capable of better plotting and better characterization. The writing is good enough, and narrating excellent, but that's all this volume has going for it.

Poor Erik was more of a placeholder than a character. That right there was enough to spoil the book for me. He deserved a better exit from the story.

Sookie has become only as smart as the plot needs to trigger either the next revelation or crisis. A used paper towel would have known better than to get in a car with a bunch of werewolves who claimed Alcide had sent them. It would have made for sense for Alcide to call her to find out where she was and ask for her help. Hell, if Warren was dead, there wouldn't be a rush to ID him. He wouldn't be getting any deader the next day. How did the rouges know she would be behind the casino? She didn't know she'd be there until just before she and Bill left her house. Bill certainly should have known better, and at least called Alcide before letting Sookie get into the car.

I can buy Claude as a villain. He's beautiful but a douche - total villain material. My problem with Claude-as-villain is how damn stupid his "plan" was. He could manage all the fay at the club, but they were perfectly happen to turn on him at the end? Total baloney. Yes, getting Sookie all caught up in stress by framing Erik for murder did bring Niall out of Fairy. But, there's no way that could have helped Claude right then - he wasn't in a position to depose Niall. Also, there's no good reason he couldn't have found the Cluviel Dor in the time he had. It was stated that a Cluviel Dor felt deliciously magical. All Claude had to do was go through the house and touch each thing. You know as well as I do that he wouldn't have hesitated to rummage her make up drawer.

Clearly, Sookie is going to end up with Sam, which is a shame. Sam deserves a whole lot better than her. Bill deserves better than her. Okay, it's possible I feel that way because I just don't like Sookie. Even if that's part of it, her capacity to react like a toddler at times and a cool-headed leader at others is maddening.

Perhaps I shouldn't be annoyed at Sookie. After all, she can only follow the path laid out for her by the book. I am annoyed at the decline in the quality of characterization and plotting in this series.

I definitely liked this better than the last two...buuuuttttt I'll still say this is more like a 2.5. The only reason I'm bumping it up to a 3 is because I actually liked the choice Sookie made at the end of this book. A little thing to bump a book's rating up for, I totally admit, but I'll do it anyway

I read these for fun. Fun in the form of Eric Northman. No Eric, no fun. Jumped the shark? Convoluted plot? Yes and yes. At least I still have Alexander Skarsgard, and I don't care as much about what convoluted direction HBO takes him, it's better than this. Plus he's just nice to watch. The 12th book, how many more can there be? Unfortunately I'll probably still read 13, because I'm compelled to read anything with vampires. I think I need a vamptervention. Sigh.

After a lackluster last couple of books, Harris picks up the pace as she heads for a series climax. Actually, the last 3 books could have just been condensed into this one. Sookie's in danger again, but this time it's not her fault. She's in possession of a pretty valuable thing that every supe ever wants to get a hold of. Only one more after this!

Another good audio book about Sookie Stackhouse. Again, I'm enjoying having this series read to me as I drive to/from work. It will be sad when I'm at the end of the series. If you like True Blood, you will like this series. I recommend it especially as an audio book. Johanna does a fantastic job with the voices.

I keep waiting for the series to go downhill...but it keeps being great! Sookie makes some big changes (for the better, IMHO) in Deadlocked.

I love that Ms. Harris continues to develop her characters and avoids excessive sex and violence, while still telling an exciting and entertaining story. Bravo!

I hesitated to read this book. I'm a huge Sookie fan and the books have become increasingly disappointing. I finally decided to read and although it wasn't as good as the beginning Sookie books, it wasn't THAT bad. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and am excited to read the final book of the Sookie story. Can't believe we have to wait a whole year, though. Geez.

I liked this book better than the previous one. It seemed to have more substance. It seems Charlaine Harris is trying to tie things up nicely, having storylines (and possibly relationships) that have run their course end as the series' end looms close by.

Sookie, my favorite blond southern woman finds herself at a crossroad. It had to happen. The reality of her future had to be faced. Her life is a crazy tangle without a direction. She's just trying to make it through the day. Meanwhile, her friends and family are all moving on, making decisions on their futures. Sookie, is desperate not to drift anymore. Too bad for her that several somebody's want to mess up the little bit of peace she has.
While I expected the worst from this book I did not find it. It was slow and not very interesting in the beginning. I think that was my projecting what I wanted into the pages. Once I let my preconceived notions go I found myself just enjoying it.
Deadlocked picked up at the ending. It was not as disappointing as expected from other reviews. I love all the characters and enjoyed siting back and spending some easy time with them. It was slow, everyday type drama through most of it. Eric was not very sexy and missed being the man he could have been with his choices. Sad as it is to see, the tarnish on their relationship is showing. I am not surprised at any of the events unfolding, they have all been building up to this point. I will be sad to read the end of their story with the next book.
