I love this series and as the final book, I am not disappointed with the end of it. I'm sad to have finished but that happens with every world I fall in love with.
    Thank you.

The narrator was phenomenal, truly brought the audiobook to a level I’m not sure I’m capable of bringing it to in my head. Is the future truly already written? What if Blue, who is she really? A must read to finish the series

Not quite as strong as the previous books -- full of too much useless, meaningless repetition that threw me out of the story far too often -- but oh, what a story. Very satisfying conclusion for these wonderful characters.

This was my fourth time reading this book, first time as an audiobook and somehow I cried more than ever before. Just when I’d thought I’d gotten all I could from these books, the narration and the music drew even more emotion than I knew I had. So magical.

Depending on where you began the story, it was about Noah Czerny. WHAT A PLOT TWIST. WHAT.
Now this is how you end a book series. So many emotions, so many ships I didn’t see coming.... and I’m still not sure why Ronan is the one that interests me the most. I usually go for Gansey types and okay, Ronan is a bit problematic at times: he imitating Henry’s accent and the “which half” comment but Henry is not a little angel either... although he grew up on me after the rape comment from the last book and even the child bride repetitive jokes... MOVING ON. Gansey, yes, I always go for the king like character. And Blue ended up being the protagonist I signed up for. Loved now she grounded all those boys so much. Such a clever group with a surprisingly -not forced at all- bond. Robobee stole the show. 4.5

“Ronan would start wars and burn cities for that true smile, elastic and amiable.”

This book was everything I wanted and more. Everything came together in this beautiful, magical and heart-breaking way.

I had to stop myself from flying through this because I really don’t like endings, but this was perfect.

My heart still hurts so, so much. That last hour was nerve-racking and excruciating.

    “That’s all there is.”

The ending is awful! I have invested so many hours and days into these characters for THIS ENDING?! I hope she will do a book 5 and soon! To tie up the many, many loose ends she left here.

I loved everything about this book, except for the ending. For some reason, I felt like it was a bit anticlimactic. I loved the development of all of the characters and their relationships. I love this series so much!

I've finally finished this series! It only took two years. But, overall, I really enjoyed this one.

The writing is beautiful and atmospheric. The characters are interesting and multi-faceted. The magic of the story is lush and complex (albeit hard to understand sometimes). There's so much to love about this series. My only complaint is that it is so dense with whimsy that occasionally it is hard to follow. Don't get me wrong, I had a good time even when I didn't know what was going on. Maggie's writing is almost like a tease. She hints at things and your thirst for answers will only get partially quenched.

I'm totally happy with where this series left off, which isn't always the case for me with series. I'm looking forward to the Ronan-centered books Maggie is writing. I definitely need more scenes between Adam and Ronan.

I almost wish I hadn’t consumed these books so quickly because I’m going to miss these characters and their adventures. This is a very well written series. I almost didn’t choose the series because of it’s YA but I’m so glad I did. It was truly a great read and the performance Will Patton was amazing.

This series is everything. The world / magic system is super interesting, the characters and their development and relationships are incredibly well written, the plot is very intriguing and the ending is perfect.
And don't even get me started on the slow burn romance.

I remember looking at where I was in the book thinking I had so many more chapters to listen to and then realizing there were only two chapter left and thinking “that’s it!” This book flew by but parts of it seemed less than they should have been. And while knowing that Gansey was going to die, it seemed slightly anti-climactic. I still love this series, and these characters but I wanted the moreness that the first three books seemed to have and this one lacked.

SPOILERS AHEAD“He was a book, and he was holding his final pages, and he wanted to get to the end to find out how it went, and he didn’t want it to be over.”We finally come to the end of the Cycle, whether we like it or not. The search for Glendower, for the lost King buried somewhere along the ley line in Virginia, comes to an end. Gansey has been searching for Glendower since he was stung to death by hornets and was miraculously brought back. “You will live because of Glendower. Someone else on the ley line is dying when they should not, and so you will live when you should not.” They are the words that have haunted him and kept up his mysterious search even when it seemed that all hope was lost. But he’s not the only one on this strenuous journey: Ronan, the dream thief, Adam, who gave his free will to Cabeswater, and Blue, who saw Gansey’s ghost before she even knew who he was and knew that he’s either Blue’s true love or she’s the one that kills him.“What a strange constellation they all were.”I’ve always praised this series for its fascinating way of blending magical with the contemporary and making it something anyone could believe in. Somewhere in the middle of The Raven King though, the magical hold these stories had on me died. That carefully created magic suddenly became frenzied and befuddling, leaving me grasping at straws to understand it, meanwhile watching as the story left me in its dust. The other magical aspect of this novel though is the vast amount of characters and how incredibly well developed each and every one of them are. The stories had always been centered around finding the lost King, waking him, and having him grant them a single wish. Slowly, as time progressed the friends began to realize that while they were still on an active search for Glendower, they no longer needed his aid because they had each other and they were more powerful together than they had ever realized before.“This was where they were now: Nightmares were real. There was no difference between dreams and reality when they stood here in Cabeswater together.”And as far as the romances, what an accomplished example of true friendship and romance going hand in hand. One never overpowered the other; they existed together in perfect harmony. Blue and Gansey. I adored reading about the short time on page that they did spend together in each others company. They nestled together like two puzzle pieces. Ronan and Adam. While these two didn’t come as a great surprise, it was still a delight to see it come to fruition. While Ronan has always kept his feelings under-wrap, I felt it essentially dulled the spark that I wanted to feel between them. That powerful realization of when they both recognize where their friendship has come to felt subdued and I wanted so much more for those two. When Maggie Stiefvater started this series, The Raven Boys set the scene for powerful things to come. Magical things. And while the magic continued to linger, all of the predictions that were made and the expectations that were set all seemed to become entangled and left without any satisfactory explanation. I felt it was anti-climactic and made everything that came before inconsequential. These friends endured loss and suffered greatly in their adventures to discover Glendower and the buoyant tone the ending set felt almost contradictory to what the other novels established. The fervor and seriousness of the first installments set expectations for the ending which ended up vastly contrasting from what was given. I liked the impression left, that the friends’ journey wasn’t over and that many adventures were still to come, but it was hard to truly appreciate it when my mind was still wrapped up in how their previous adventures had “ended”. Add to that was the lack of closure for several other characters: Blue’s father, Gwenllian, the Grey Man and Maura, and Noah. Noah played such a vital part in this story yet he not only wasn’t given a mention of an ending but I expected the group to at least have some momentary thought for his sudden absence in their lives after so much time. Even Adam’s unworthy parents were given a semblance of an ending and that was wholly unnecessary. My issues and my praises for this novel stack up pretty evenly in the end. I can only imagine how difficult it is to write such a sprawling story with so many highly-developed characters only to have to find some adequate way of bringing their stories to an end. Stiefvater sets this story up with the expectation of extraordinary magic only to have it taper off into something less extraordinary by the end. The Raven Cycle is a highly imaginative tale that showcases Stiefvater’s impressive abilities of bringing any character to life. Despite it all, I’m still sad to have to say goodbye.

That summary is lacking a lot. This is the finally book to the series and a whole lot of shit happens. As endings go, it was a good ending. All the loose ends I can think of were concluded. There was a happy ending, even if I'm not quite sure exactly the mechanics of how that happened. Some romance even founds it's way through the cracks. I was not expecting that with Ronan and Adam because I don't think I got any hint about it at all before, but it had a nice ring to it there at the end. The magic part of the series was intense in the beginning of this last book and I felt it was almost overwhelming me at times with it's intensity. I think I would recommend reading these books closely together so that the intricacies of the magic don't keep taking you by surprised. It's been an adventure, and now it's over. But I will be keeping an eye on Stiefvater to see what she comes up with next.

10/5★⎮ I could be clever and start this review by quoting a witty line from the book, perhaps even my favorite line or the line that most strongly resonated with me, but I can't because I would have to transcribe the whole effing book. If I were to describe this story, this series, in one word it would without a doubt be transcendent. Stiefvater's writing, character development, and world building far surpass anything the Young Adult Fantasy subgenre has thus far produced.

I normally take a slight laissez-faire stance when it comes to my audiobook selection. If an interesting book comes to my attention, I give it a try. Occasionally, I will actively search for something that fits a particular taste I have at the time, but this is the only time I can recall marking a book's release date in each of my multiple calendars and planners. I typically try to avoid having such high expectations, because they tend to be summarily dashed upon reading. So it's really saying something about my faith in Maggie Stiefvater that the possibility of disappointment never even occurred to me.

My level of enjoyment is actually best described as a state of perpetual bliss and could not have been higher for a single second of this audiobook. When picked apart separately, it's hard to identify the exact part of this story that so captivates me. But when viewed together, all elements of this story are just...yes. The feeling I am left with after finishing this series is just... yes. It is reminiscent of the feeling I had after completing Stiefvater's The Scorpio Races . The feeling of having just experienced one's own perception of perfection.

But wait just one hot minute: Am I delusional or did that ending not seem entirely like an ending? It's possible I just don't want this euphoric experience to end, but I could swear it sounded like she was teasing something more. Did anyone else get that sense?

Narration review: If I am being completely and totally honest, 47% of my anticipation for The Raven King stemmed from the desire to have Will Patton's voice in my ears again. He is one of those narrators that you either love or hate. Fortunately, I'm on the sunny side of that debate. I ❤love❤ him. He is easily, and I do mean easily, one of my top three favorite narrators. But he's also a great example of personal preference when it comes to narration. He has such a distinct way of narrating that it's understandable why he can be polarizing among listeners. I recently had a chat with a fellow audiobook enthusiast who couldn't stand Patton's narration of this series and vowed to enjoy it via the traditional book format from there on out. I was a little astonished that her listening experience so greatly differed from my own. The moral of this story is: Listen to audio samples before purchase (and also don't be afraid to make returns if you had a negative listening experience)!

Will Patton will forever be synonymous with The Raven Cycle in my mind and I am just as sad about having to say goodbye to his narration of it as I am about saying goodbye to the series itself. The two together were a match made in audiobook heaven. Thank you Mr. Patton, for bringing such a beautiful thing to life. ♣︎
