It is one of the most erotic and descriptive books that I have ever read within twenty-four hours. Nonstop with such tantalizing and imaginative images that make one’s mind go wide with need. Yet the writer brings me so much fun and excitement. It is another great book and naturally brought in view of the readers and makes the fun growing with more anticipation.
Yet for me this book is another one of the best and most favorable out of the first five that I have read!
Finally the friend of Jacques Dubrinsky known as Byron Juusticano meet his lifemate after he impose a banishment to himself for wrong done to his friend. As he was in Italy he runs into a man who almost lost his life in an accident....He was grandfather to his lifemate. He is Don Giovanni and the granddaughter is a known musician Antonietti Scarletti.

This is one of the best in the series, in large part because it departs from the usual formula in many ways. First, this is a tale of murder and intrigue - a true mystery story, complete with secrete passageways, poison in food, dark family secrets, and rivalry between wealthy families. Doesn't sound very familiar for a Carpathian novel, eh? On top of that, we have Byron - who apparently took the events in 'Dark Desire' way more seriously than the mentally-addled Jacques did, and somehow blames himself for a whole lot of baggage that probably doesn't exist. Nevertheless, it's turned him into a decent male, and he actually romances his lifemate - possibly more slowly than he actually needs to. As for her? She's incredibly intelligent, perceptive, and cautious - and blind. She's a concert pianist who was blinded as a child in a boat 'accident.' She's also part of an absurdly wealthy family. I don't want to say much more, because it would be a shame to give away any of the plot twists.Byron himself is unusual - most of our male Carpathians up to this point have been hunters, and Byron has been doing some hunting, but he's not from a hunter FAMILY - he's a gemcaller, an artisan. Which is fantastic. We get an introduction to the funniest Carpathian child ever, Joseph. And we get to meet Byron's sister and her lifemate - he's got a family. We don't get much more of a push on the series arc, but this book is definitely not one to skip. This is Byron and Antonietta Scarletti's story.

Guilt over past mistakes, Byron Justicano sentenced himself to become a hunter, taking himself away from his home, his family and friends. Finding his lifemate and deciding on courting as a human would was a test in patients and control the Byron had to pass. Being blind and having to rely on others senses, Antonietta Scarletti could feel every time Byron came into the room, he made her feel safe. When an attempt on Antonietta’s life was uncovered, Byron knew his patience had come to an end, he could not wait any longer to claim her for fear of losing her completely. The difficult part was trying to find a way to merge Anonietta’s world with Byron’s, especially once their differences were fully known to them.Book 10.…. Really great, more feelings with a little less action. No vampire fights (Byron is not really a hunter). Introduction to another species (jaguars). Reminders of many of characters from previous books. Not the same old Carpathian story. The ‘bad guy’ was not a vampire, but jaguars and humans, that made just as much trouble for the Scarletti family. The only problem I had with this story, Byron’s history, he says he left the Carpathian Mountains because of putting Mikhail, Raven and Jacques in danger (that was about 8 or 9 books ago). I would have liked a little more reminder than that, I don’t remember much of Byron’s role in trouble the Prince had, but I did like finding out what Byron’s talent really was.

Set in modern-day Italy, this is book 10 in Christine Feehan's Dark Carpathian series. This time around the focus is on Carpathian Byron Justicano, a master craftsman capable of calling gems up from the earth. After unintentionally putting the life of his best friend's lifemate in danger years ago, he decided to exile himself form his homeland and family. He turned his back on his craft and put his own life in jeopardy hunting vampires - Carpathian males that have embraced evil and kill for pleasure, thus endangering all Carpathians. He was not born to be a hunter however, and eventually he is drawn to the haunting music created by Italian concert pianist, Antonietta Scarletti. She is his lifemate - born to be the light to his terrible darkness, and destined to be bound to Byron for all eternity. Blinded and orphaned as a child by an explosion on the family yacht, Antonietta, a strong psychic, is heir to the Scarletti family fortune and the massive Scarletti palazzo, where she lives with all her relatives. When Byron learns that someone within the family is siphoning off the family treasures and slowly poisoning Antonietta, her grandfather and her cousin, he draws upon his supernatural powers to catch the villain, but he soon finds out that the Scarletti family has a supernatural secret of their own. From reading other people's review of this one, it seems that you either really like it, or you hate it. I liked it a lot. I found it to be a departure from the previous novels in the series. Unlike the women in the other books, Antoinetta was unafraid of her destiny. She was not running away from her fate and she "saw" Byron with perfect love and acceptance from the beginning of the story. Byron also felt different than the other Carpathian males I've come to know and love over the past few months. He was not as rigid (pardon the pun)and demanding with Antoinetta as other males have been with their lifemates. He would have been perfectly happy to live with her as a mortal, and in the end, die with her. Bryon left the decision up to Antionetta completely, and she chose him.

I don't know if romance is my thing, but a lot of my friends like her work. The sex scenes are a bit rauncy! The the suoernatural aspect offers Feehan a lot of opportunities to explore sexual fantasy.I didn't think I'd be reading more of her work, when I first did this review, but since then I've read two more of her books. Here's why, it's sexy! The supernatual aspect adds to the escapist themes in her novels that I like when I need my literature to help me destress. I love the idea of love conquering all, yes I'm a cliche. But already I've noted her formula! I may want to finish the Sleepwalker series, and finish it there. But while reading the second book I starting thinking, is she really going to pair off all of the soldiers and the original test girls? if that's the case, and judging by what I've read so far, I could stop now. That's why the book can't get a high rating from me. It's a simple formula that she's employing to complete the series.

The Scarletti is an old family, one riddled in curses and death. Now in modern day Italy, Antonietta Scarletti's life is in danger. She is the heir of the Scarletti fortune and is one of the greatest pianist-composer of all times. In every turn and passage way is a secret. Some leading to murder, others to treasures. Who is out to kill her and her grandfather? her cousins? Her in-laws? Her assistant? The rival company? Everyone has their secret and they all have a hand in accidents.only one man can save her or destroy her: Byron justicano, the avenging angel who is more dangerous than the threat to her very life. but Byron has secrets of his own. Ones the blind Antonietta would not want to share.I love the story. It feels like a murder mystery delving on family secrets an deciets. Who's have known Feehan could blend this genre to Carpathian novels. i loved every minute.I didn't know if i wanted to kill the characters myself or kiss them one by one. in the end, you'd just love them. the characters are very different from other Carpathian novels. Byron is very silent. he does not claim Antonietta as soon as he sees her. Antonietta may ba blind but not her heart. She knows what she wants and one of the things she wants in Byron.
