      Sometimes what we want (or think we want) isn't what God wants for us. How do we deal with it when God denies us something we want? How do we react when God directs our path in a direction different from the way we want it to go?Those are the questions at the core of this novel.I have to admit that I was a bit dismayed that Jen couldn't seem to move past her unfaithful husband. Jen and her mother seem to rub each other the wrong way often. Both do things that the other takes in a different way than it was intended.

      A pleasant story, although it took her a long time to give up on her e-husband. I was ready for her to move on sooner.

      Hmmm, life in a funeral home - sounds spooky but not bad. The author has some pretty "contrivy" plot twists that I wasn't too fond of and she doesn't quite capture the "small town America where everyone loves each other" the way Jan Karon does but it's still a good read.

      This was a funny book. It's the first in the series. It's about a divorced woman who inherits a funeral home and since she doesn't have a job, she goes to the home to fix it up, intending to sell it. It was well-written and I enjoyed it.

      I got this book from the library, because I heard of the sequel coming out and wanted to be ready for it. This book was just not on my level of interest though. Perhaps if I had children or was a career woman it might have been more interesting to me. But at my current time in life, it just didn't appeal and there are too many other things out there to read something I'm not crazy about.

      I wasn't sure I was going to like this book, but it was a good book. Throughout this book you'll see Jennifer learn how to go from a fast-pace life where she wasn't a large part of her kids lives to a slow paced life where she is with them 24/7 and learning more things about them than she knew before. She is also trying to fund renovations to an inherited funeral home and learn how to run that while dealing with her divorice, hopes of reconcilation and heartbreak. It's a great story to see how one women deals with some of lifes toughest challenges and trying to come out on top while learning about small towns and the sense of community that comes with it.

      This is book 1 of Angela Hunt's "Fairlawn Series". Jennifer Graham, hurting badly after an unwanted divorce, inherits a run-down Victorian house in Mt. Dora, FL, only to discover that it also a funeral home! You'll laugh, you'll shed a tear, and you'll applaude as Jennifer and her family face many challenges, and how life is transformed during the process. Well worth your time to read.

      This is women's lit with a twist--the main character ends up inheriting a funeral home so parts of the book deal with her learning about the business of running a funeral home and mortuary. The main character--Jennifer--is going through the after effects of a divorce. She packs up her two sons and her mother to travel to Florida to see this funeral home she has inherited, planning on fixing it up and selling it. She still hopes she can get back together with her husband but she needs the money so away they go. This was a fun read, yet the funny bits are interspersed with the characters dealing with issues that many readers will be able to identify with.
