Описание

Centuries ago, Illarion was betrayed-a dragon made human against his will, then forced to serve humanity as a dragonmount in their army, and to fight for them in barbaric wars, even while he hated everything about them. Enslaved and separated from everyone he knew and from his own dragon brothers, he was forced into exile in a fey realm where he lost the only thing he ever really loved.

Now he has a chance to regain what's been lost-to have the one thing he covets most. But only if he gives up his brothers and forsakes the oaths he holds most dear. Yet what terrifies him most isn't the cost his happiness might incur, it's the fact that there is just enough human in his dragon's heart that he might actually be willing to pay it and betray everything and everyone-to see the entire world burn.…

Об авторе

Sooo...I liked this book except for two things. 1) Some of the sections in the story were confusing because of the jumping around in the timeline of events. I don't mind "time travel" plots but this one created confusion and that I don't like. 2) I thought this was a stand-alone set in the Dark Hunter universe, which is fine. I expected a couple of appearances from others in her series. What I wasn't anticipating was how many jumped in and I got lost in the cramming of some characters' back story into Illarion's story. What I did like, was the fact Illarion and his leading lady were both strong characters in their own right. The parts that focused on them were well-written.Would I recommend this book? Yes, especially if you are a reader of the Dark Hunter series

    Some parts difficult

There were a few times when I started a chapter and thought I had skipped something, so I'd go back a page, but no- that's the transition (or lack thereof). One chapter, Illarion meets some people and the next chapter is weeks? months? years? later. ??? I guess since the end of this book is the same as the end of Dragonbane except from Illarion's point of view, Kenyon expects the reader to remember what happened in a book that was read a year ago. Sorry, but these recent books are not that memorable.

Augh, still sometimes too many characters, so many that I sometimes almost forget who they are. Still interesting visit to this world with Dragons and romance. Illarion was forced into a human shape years ago to break him and then used as a steed. He then finds love only to have it stolen from him when he's exiled in a fey realm. Now he holds the seeds of destruction of the world in his hands and he's not sure if he doesn't want to use it or let others use it. He's tired of the chaos. It's not bad, just overoccupied.

I usually love SK books...but most of this book was copied and pasted from previous books (without even changing to perspective or f the main character). Read Dragonbane and skip this one and you won’t miss out on anything’s my important

This book was very good . I enjoyed the way Illarion's and Edilyn's book was woven in with his brother Maxi"s. As I have read just about all of these books it gave a sense of closure on parts and something new on others.

Enjoyed that Edilyn's love was able to cure her Dragon/man's mind, body and soul. As with any books there are intertwining stories. This is one. I enjoyed it for what it was. But that being written when is Savitar going to get his story line? For he is truly FASCINATING!!!!!!!!!

I have never given a SK novel less than 4 stars. Let me explain: chapters 1-11 & 27-29 get the 4 stars, 12-26 get 2 in this book (but 4 in Dragonbane)

I’m binge listening to the series & when everyone mention a chunk was taken word for word from Dragonbane, we’ll I counted it up… first 11 chapters are new…do are the last 3 … but 15 chapters are from Dragonbane … in audiobook time that’s 5 hrs new, 4.5 old…. I wouldn’t minded the cut & paste if it was condensed to maybe an 30-60 minutes it really fit with the flow of the story… but it was too much.. & to leave chunks in where Illarion wasn’t really in it. I almost wonder if this was originally supposed to be a novella & the publishers needed a full book. I keep wondering if Harker the reader got full pay for reading since it really wasn’t even half a book new.

The new parts were terrific… the duplicated part was great the first time, kind of annoying the second… but in truth I caught things I didn’t while listening to Dragonbane.

So it was just frustrating but if you go read Wikipedia on her you’ll understand a possible reason for the cut & paste

1/3rd is from Dragonbane and 1/3rd is from Son of No one. Only 1/3rd is new. It makes only a small novella not full novel worth. Disappointed......
