Описание

Landon Brinkley's dreams are all coming true. She's landed an internship with the fabulous Selah Smith, event planner for the Hollywood elite, taking her from small-town Texas to the bright lights of LA. Landon soon finds herself in a world in which spending a million dollars on an event-even a child's birthday party-is de rigueur and the whims of celebrity clients are life-and-death matters. At first, the thrill of working on A-list parties and celebrity weddings is enough to get Landon through the seventy-five-hour workweeks and endless abuse at the hands of her mercurial boss. But when the reality of the business reveals itself, she's forced to make a choice: do whatever it takes to get ahead, or stay true to herself.

Drawing on the author's real-life experiences as an event planner to the stars, Party Girl takes readers on an adventure among Hollywood's most beautiful-and most outrageous-people, revealing the ugly side of Hollywood's prettiest parties.

Rachel just so happens to be one of my friend's cousins, she'd been bugging me for months to read Party Girl, especially once she found out I'd be meeting her at a book signing event. I ended up purchasing it on my Kindle, where I proceeded to fall in love with Rachel's story telling abilities. I later purchased the hard copy, just so I could have her signature on the book. Rachel just so happened to be incredibly nice and funny, so I'm probably a tad biased in not only saying I loved this book, but the author is awesome too!

Landon is a hilarious, naive, and incredibly book smart woman. She's fresh out of college and in a starting position at her dream company. Her adventures in LA in the event planning business are totally perfect to what I'd expect out of someone new to California, particularly to LA. She's girlie, polite as all get out, and her innocence is just plain charming. I liked that she stuck to her goal, working for the tough-as-nails Selah Smith, even when it effected her personal life drastically. I related to Landon in more ways than I expected to, especially when she continued to fight every thing tossed at her. The event planning storyline is well done and you can tell Rachel Hollis put the truth into this book. There are a lot of details given, not only at events, but in the workplace, at Landon's apartment, and at every various location they visited. I appreciate detail like this, that gives me a clear image, but doesn't overwhelm me. Fortunately for me, I have been to a pile of LA events and I can confirm that all of the scenes are pretty believable.
Landon's drive and willingness made this book impossible to put down, plus there happens to be some awesome friends, hilarious banter, and a very attractive man (of course). I can't wait to read about Landon's best friends, Miko and Max, because they're so different than Landon but likable just the same.

This book is definitely a one-of-a-kind story. I haven't come across another story quite like it. The plot is unique and engaging. I didn't want to put this one down!

Landon has moved to L.A. in hopes of making her dreams come true. In the process, she gets a crash course in just how cruel and demanding the world, well at least L.A., can be! She has entered a world of ass-kissing, people pleasing, back-stabbing, under-handing, fake it til you make it people. And all of this in just any typical day of work.

Landon may seem naive, but she is strong willed enough to tough out the toughest and cruelest days. She is all too willing to not only make a good impression but succeed in the party event world.

Selah is the devil incarnate herself. She is ruthless and selfish. She is the master manipulator and dragon lady. Her character is one that you will not enjoy, but will pray someone takes her down at some point!

With the long hours of party planning to L.A.'s elite, friendships and love may be found... or not. Nothing or no one is ever what it seems. Landon finds this out the hard way... but will she still come out on top with those who she has grown close to and now consider part of her family.

This book will keep you entertained all of the way through. You will laugh, cringe, yell and sigh simultaneously in many parts. Rooting for the small town girl is always a plus!

Easy to listen to. Relatable, even if you haven’t experienced the same things as her. The character growth is nice, and there are a few plot twists that keep you on your toes.

Light and entertaining. The story of a girl moving to a big city in search of her dream. Makes me wish I was in my early 20s again and ready to conquer the world.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve read anything and everything from history to silly novels. Most of the silly novels, make me roll my eyes more than once with the impossible situations and ridiculous plots but, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The characters and the story are predictable but, sweet, entertaining and well written. I throughly enjoyed listening to it and it left me smiling.

This was such a fun story to listen to. In the mist of all this virus talk it was a nice get away from reality.

I liked the beginning but the second half and the ending was way too fairytale-like for me.

I honestly wasn’t sure I would enjoy this book when I started it because it’s not my typical genre of fiction I go to, but once again Mrs. Hollis has swept me away and kept me wanting more. I am deployed overseas right now and this is her third book that I have read to help me pass the time. Good work Rachel, I cannot wait to start the next one.

Loved the innocence of the story. It was a feel good story, with a happy ending, and words of encouragement and integrity lessons from mama and daddy.

this is a fun story. I had the audio book and the author narrates and does a great job. Big party planning job, southern girl, hunky men. All the essential ingredients for a good book..

I’ll be honest - I didn’t finish the book. I didn’t even come close to finishing it because in chapter one the author spends not just one but several minutes describing the character’s make-up in absurd detail. Maybe there are some people who love to know not just that a character is wearing lipstick but also the brand & shade of that lipstick but I’m not one of them. I wouldn’t normally write a review without finishing a book but I wanted to give others like me a warning of what to expect.

I don’t ever read fiction, let alone romance type novels. But I read Girl Wash Your Face and loved Rachel! Listened to many of her interviews on YouTube. So I was intrigued by this book. It was a nice escape from looking into my Life’s problems. It was clean and innocent yet suspenseful. Maybe predictable, but her southern accent drawls you in and I couldn’t stop listening!!! ?I am looking forward to ‘listening’ to another one of Rachel’s fictional books.
