About this audiobook
"The man who saved Christianity" - grateful words spoken by millions after Dr. Jonathan Weber revealed the truth about an archaeological dig two years ago.
But Jon isn't interested in the hype. He's far more concerned with how people are being misled by prophecy enthusiasts and their bizarre end-times scenarios, particularly the wrong-headed predictions of his nemesis, Melvin Morris Merton.
Still, Jon is a professor, not a crusader. He's happy with his life of teaching (Harvard and Hebrew University), writing (a best-selling "biography" of Jesus), and research (Near East studies). He's also a newlywed, deeply in love with his brilliant and beautiful wife, Shannon. Not even an annoying lawsuit from Merton can shake his world.
But Joshua Ben-Yosef can.
This Israeli speaks a dozen languages - fluently and without accent. His words ripple with wisdom and authority, and crowds follow him, enthralled. He heals the sick, gives sight to the blind, casts out demons, and even raises the dead. Once again, Jon is drawn into a hot pursuit of the truth that at times casts him into the very lonely, very dangerous role of one man against the world.
Review the evidence, join the dig near Nazareth that uncovers a first-century mosaic, and find out if three lines of Hebrew could change the course of history.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the sequel to Maier's book "Skeleton in God's Closet". A very good read and picks up really well from the end of his first installment of the series, but doesn't equal the excitement and suspense of Jon Weber's first adventure.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a great theological thriller written by a fine scholar. I enjoyed it very much.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What can I say. Clever, brilliant loved it. Loved the narration. Lovely voice, perfect pace. More please <><
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Not as interesting or exciting as 'A skeleton in God's closet' but it made for a very interesting read and thought experiment. Very well written with a strong, if not unrealistically well connected, protagonist. The only real problem I had with this book was the same problem I had with the first book and that is the whole relationship between John and Shannon, we are told how amazing their relationship is without actually given any real relationship building to get the reader on board with that assessment. Shannon is a very weak character in my opinion who plays almost zero role in the story. Whenever she showed up I almost audibly groaned lol...thankfully their relationship takes a back seat to the main story so it can be overlooked for the most part. If you liked the first book you will probably enjoy this one as well. Cheers!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Thought provoking, but lacks in credibility. The story gives it's characters way too much authority and clout.
The idea of the Messiah returning is clever, however in this case, the back story falls apart rather badly and lacks imagination. I found the narrator's voice to be a little irritating as well.
In the end, the last few chapters fele they were written by someone else in a hurry to finish the book. How things neatly fell in place was implausible. On a last note, the love story was totally unnecessary and a rather squeamish attempt to add the need for Shannon into the plot.
