About this audiobook
The New York Times bestselling author of Gossamer Ghost returns to the Big Easy and the historic Garden District, where scrapbook shop owner Carmela Bertrand discovers a bride-to-be murdered in the legendary Lafayette Cemetery. Carmela couldn't imagine a finer evening than dinner at Commander's Palace with her beau, Detective Edgar Babcock. The food and the company are equally divine-with the exception of Isabelle Black stopping by to brag about her upcoming wedding. Resuming the romance with a walk in the evening air, the couple is interrupted once again-this time by a terrifying scream from inside the cemetery. Having just seen Isabelle, Carmela and Edgar now find her lying across an aboveground tomb, strangled to death with a piece of vintage lace. Carmela would rather leave the investigating to Edgar, but she can't say no to Isabelle's sister Ellie, the tarot card reader at Juju Voodoo, when she asks her to help. As she untangles the enemies of Isabelle's past, Carmela hopes she can draw out the killer before someone else gets cold feet.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Unpleasant narrator's voice and an annoying protagonist. Try something else.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I have to say first that I was a bit hesitant about reading this book because Ms. Childs co-wrote the book with another author, Terrie Farley Moran. I wasn't sure if a co-author could come in so far along in the series without a big change. But I shouldn't have worried. The book was typical Carmella - getting into trouble by helping others and lot's of scrapbooking being done.
I did miss the usual work on the scrapbook table and their was a bit more "I'm so beautiful"-tude going on that I wouldn't have missed but other than that it was a good book. I will read the next in the series.
Don't read this book if you haven't read the previous books because you will be miss the background on some of the characters. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Carmela is dining with her beau, Detective Edgar Babcock, and on the way home, hey are passing a cemetery and hear screams. They discover the body of Isabelle Black (a bride-to-be) who was dining in the same restaurant. Stabbed to death, Carmela and Edgar try to find the murderer before he escapes the vicinity. Unable to capture him, Carmela is implored by the victim's sister to find out who did this.Carmela's inquiries lead her to several interesting scenarios as to who and why Isabelle was killed, but she has to battle a bridegroom who is somewhat uninterested and a to-be mother-in-law who appears delighted before she can find the motive as well as the murderer. I think that this series is getting better with each book and am very fortunate that the author honored me with an advanced copy.
