Embrace imperfections…

Rachel Hollis has built a wonderful, successful life by showing those who love her company, podcast, and books just how un-put together everything is behind the scenes. She begins this book by telling you about a time when she peed her pants. And then she breaks down all the misconceptions of perfection we have about our lives and other’s so you can be set free from those expectations.

Описание

With wry wit and hard-earned wisdom, popular online personality and founder of TheChicSite.com Rachel Hollis helps listeners break free from the lies keeping them from the joy-filled and exuberant life they are meant to have.

Founder of the lifestyle website TheChicSite.com and CEO of her own media company, Chic Media, Rachel Hollis has created an online fan base of hundreds of thousands of fans by sharing tips for living a better life while fearlessly revealing the messiness of her own. Now comes her highly anticipated first book featuring her signature combination of honesty, humor, and direct, no-nonsense advice.

Each chapter of Girl, Wash Your Face begins with a specific lie Hollis once believed that left her feeling overwhelmed, unworthy, or ready to give up. As a working mother, a former foster parent, and a woman who has dealt with insecurities about her body and relationships, she speaks with the insight and kindness of a BFF, helping women unpack the limiting mind-sets that destroy their self-confidence and keep them from moving forward.

From her temporary obsession with marrying Matt Damon to a daydream involving hypnotic iguanas to her son’s request that she buy a necklace to “be like the other moms,” Hollis holds nothing back. With unflinching faith and tenacity, Hollis spurs other women to live with passion and hustle and to awaken their slumbering goals.

I really enjoyed this book. The chapters about being a mom were really helpful. She makes a lot of great points. Looking forward to reading Girl, Stop Apologizing next.

Compared to some of the other "self-help" books I've read, I liked this one more. However, it still was a little repetitive. The message was great, the stories were funny, but the same lines were used many times, even within her own anecdotes. I get that it didn't tell her life in chronological order, but it didn't need to repeat.

Overall, it was a solid read and I can see how it speaks to a lot of people, women especially. She's a great writer and the book is inspiring.

This was an interesting, funny, and relatable audiobook experience! I appreciated the Goodreads mention and the current popular cultural references. The author narrating the book made it feel more personal.

This book gave me confirmation on so much I have been working through. It was funny. It was sad. Most of all, it was honest and real.

She speaks to you in a way you would want to keep listening to. Now I know that She has been a keynote speakers at motivational platforms for a reason. Her personal challenging stories which she shared made the book even more relatable. One would definitely feel pumped up after reading this one and would work to bring change in life.
    My two favourite takeaways from this book would be;
1). I and only I have the ability to make the changes in my life and to live the life of my dreams.
2). Never break promises you make to yourself. They are more valuable than the promises you make to others.

Looking forward to read her other works as well.

This book was great. It made me hopeful and look at my life in a different light.

Rachel is a likeable author who was brutally honest and talked about her own personal struggles.

I really liked the chapters on life tactics such as dealing with body image and confidence.

One thing that was a little off putting for me personally is the continual references to faith and god. Whilst I know that Rachel is a deeply religious person, and for me this was the difference between 4 and 5 stars.

I’m a father of 2 daughters and loved it so much! It’s inspired me to also write about raising up girls to be confident, amazing women! Your openness, honesty, and authenticity was beyond refreshing. I laughed, felt sorrow, and renewed all within a single sentence at times. I see areas I went wrong with my girls and areas I knocked it Out of the park! I am blessed to have an amazing relationship with both my girls. We can talk about anything very candidly. Although they’re now 20 & 24 yrs old but they still live at home. I know God still has them with us at home for a reason and I want to maximize that opportunity! Once again, thank you for your willingness to write such an eye opening word that although meant for ladies has inspired a father. This should be REQUIRED reading for all dads with girls!!

I liked her honesty in how she became a CEO and how it may look easy now, but she went through a lot to get to where she is.
  • (5/5)
Rachel is very vulnerable about her life and that makes her powerful read

this book is a good motivator to look at the lies that women tell themselves and offers advice on how to get real and live a more authentic, honest life.

Amazing book, I think every woman/mum out there should read. It is Rachels story but her life learnt lessons can apply to anyone woman out there. Love thats she is Godly woman too, you don’t have to be too to read it but we all need to believe in something higher than ourselves wether it be God, Allah, Buddah or the Universe.
