- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I wanna cry, i wanna cry, i wanna cry, i don't know why. It goosebumps me in the end. I love the feelings of it. This.. is.. i love you, i just love you tahereh mafi and the teams.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am in utter shock with this ending. Just wow! Also did chapt 39 was 7 seconds of static noise. So not sure what that was about
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Shivers! Shivers! SHIVERS DOWN MY SPINE! I am speechless! I am a mere sheep in a world of wolves! Silent and soft-spoken. This was both incredible, yet frightening! My first thoughts are focused on Brendon. Is he dead? No! He can’t be! I love Brendon! Oh, how much I would love to rip that woman’s tongue out and shove it down her throat! Anxiety is building up within my lungs! I am freaking out! God, I hope this is just a terrible nightmare! I want all the characters to remain happy, healthy, and ALIVE!!! Please let the outcome of all these unfortunate events turn out alright. At least end the entire series on a positive notation. I am so eager to read the next book. My heart is racing; bursting from my chest! This was by far, one of the best books, yet! Especially prevailing both Juliet’s perspective, and Arrons perspective! Wise choice … wise choice indeed! I am in love with this series!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Honestly what the fduucckxkskksf is going on?! I'm ar a loss of words. It's crazy
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What the hell did I just listen to? ? This book was the most unexpected thing to come out of this series. Knowing it’s only just a trilogy, I did not expect to find new discoveries and revelations on this story. I never would have thought that there would still be unanswered questions after the third book if I didn’t listen to this. I didn’t realize that there are so many to explore and I’m so excited to dive into the 5th book!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Packed with drama. And an amazing way to create a second arc in one of the most beautiful dystopian wars ever written. Tahere did her thing .
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A lot of character development and surprises . I Love it ! I can’t wait to see where Tahereh Mafi takes us in the next book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5There were some draggy parts which I don’t think I noticed in the other books. Or maybe because this is an audiobook whereas the others weren’t. But the plot and the interaction of the main characters make up for it. Especially the funny parts. Looking forward to reading the next book and finding out what happens!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Plot twist after plot twist ? ? I never expect this, but I adore this, already listen to the second one ?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book definitely has a lot of mysteries to unpack. Juliette along with the readers discover the truth behind her parents- she’s adopted. I mean does the author like to throw hurtles into plots. This shocking revelation leads to a chain of unexpected realization and new allies.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5My heart is in pain. I cannot believe what I just listened to. I feel empty.
Don't get me wrong. The book was great. But my heart cannot handle the ending. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I need to know what happen next... please give me the sequel
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Boom.
I think I just died. I'm still reeling from that ending. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It’s going to be along wait for the next book. I loved this one!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book but if I had known about the ending I would have waited until the next one came out
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I was a little disappointed in this sequel. I understand that, with how everything ended in book three, there would be some re-grouping and technical work to be done, but I was hoping for just a little bit of action too.
I was also a bit saddened—but also not surprised—to see Juliette revert back to her old self a little as new problems kept popping up. Her confidence was not as strong in this story. I thought that with the end of book three, she had gotten a better grip on her emotions and had finally broken free of her own prison, but I guess it wasn't that simple. At the same time, though, I understand that she had a lot on her plate, with her new position, her relationship with Warner, and the information that was revealed to her at the end.
With Warner/Aaron's character, though, while there was a slight setback, he received the most character development. I loved seeing him develop new relationships with Adam and Kenji, and even Castle. I enjoyed seeing more sides of him, more emotions, more flaws—it was done wonderfully.
And with all that, I am extremely curious to see how Tahereh Mafi has continued the story in "Defy Me." - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was so happy to see that this series was going to continue! I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first three but it was still pretty good! I was disappointed in Warner which is surprising because I never really liked him anyway but I think the thing I don't like the most is how they both say they are so incredibly in love when they barely even know each other. Also, they barely even talk, for the most part its just pretty physical. Surprisingly I did enjoy the ending though!! I'm looking forward to reading a little bit more of Kenji in Shadow Me and then Defy Me!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Before I started reading I was a little worried, some authors just can't handle series- they lose their characters a bit. NOT the case! I whipped through it in an afternoon because I didn't want to stop. Mafi keeps up the suspense and sucks you into her characters, exactly like the earlier books in the series. There is a major cliffhanger which was painful but awesome because that means there will be more!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Holy crap, that ending O.O
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5“I cannot let the broken girl inside of me inhale all that I've become. I cannot revert back to another version of myself. I will not shatter, not again, in the wake of an emotional earthquake.”
So in the fourth installment of the Shatter Me series we're brought back to the story of Juliet and Warner - post war in the process of rebuilding their confiscated rebel base. True to her writing style, the book does not want for poetic descriptions and language. However, unlike Mafi's other books in the series which are more action oriented, there is a large focus on the ups and downs of teenage feelings, relationships, and inner turmoil. I was really excited to read Restore Me, yet instead of a novel I felt as though I was reading a soap opera. While appealing to some, I personally was disappointed that it didn't really live up to its predecessors.
With the mediocre plot revelations and "teen angst drama" this turned into, we could very well have interchanged the plot with parts of the The Selection and not even know the difference. Mafi's depiction of the characters completely contrasts her poetic writing style, making them sound unsophisticated and whiny. I was severely let down in this continuation. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This series just keeps getting better! What an interesting twist at the very end!!! I can't wait for the next one to come out!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It's been sixteen days since Juliette killed the Commander, Warner's father, and took over Sector 45. Now, not sure what the next move of the other Sectors and the Reestablishment will be, Juliette, Warner, Kenji and their allies prepare for possible war.I was a little afraid I'd have no idea what was going on because it had been so long since I read the other books, but mostly what needs to be revisited is. Plus, this book is so internal - moving back and forth between Juliette's and Warner's perspectives - that not a lot really happens that was connected to the past. It's much more about character development and Juliette & Warner figuring out how to navigate their new relationship. In fact, the one downside was that I didn't find the tension of secrets quite so believable. They've only been together for, what, a couple of weeks? And trying to reorganize Sector 45 on top of that. Of course they haven't had time for in-depth conversations about their pasts! The ending is a major turn in direction and leaves the door wide, wide open - okay, yes, it's a full on cliffhanger - for sequels. I'm looking forward on seeing what happens next.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book did not restore me, if anything it shattered me beyond repair.
While Shatter Me was this beautifully written book with a slightly annoying MC and a kind of confined world, Restore Me broke all the barriers the first book had.
It's really impressive to see the series developed from that to this.
I really loved Juliette's development throughout the series, but I adored her development in this book the most.
Gone is the girl who scratched every word she thought and replaced it fifty times. Gone is the girl who cried for the dumbest reasons. Gone is the girl who needed others to approve of her every move.
Instead, there's this badass girl who doesn't need your validation or blessing to do what she wants. Yes, she makes mistakes, but she doesn't get too discouraged by them. While old Juliette would've cowered and wept in a corner over every mistake she made, the new Juliette sucks it up and moves on.
I loved how despite everything, Tahereh Mafi's writing is as poetic and gorgeous as ever, she definitely is a queen when it comes to writing things so beautiful you wanna hug the book forever and never let go.
